Hey all!

I'm 10 words over the 500 word limit for my Andover essay, should I try to trim off words? Does it really matter?

If it´s possible for you do so, but I can´t imagine them counting the words!

I know, ten words is not a big thing, but the directions stated 500. I would trim.

I’m sure there are some frilly phrases you could clean up. After all, wil admissions officers have patience for a longer essay?

mine is 100 words over the word limit!
o god
i forgot!

If it’s a good essay, I’m sure they won’t mind. It’s not like they’re going to count the amount of words for every essay they get.

10 words isn’t much. Go over it and see if there is anything you can cut out. If there isn’t anything you can possible cut out and you have to keep all of it, I am sure it wont matter much.

I was 6 words over, I’m pretty sure counting words would be a waste of effort for them. They’ll probably notice if it was really far over, though. Ten words is cuttable, but fine if it’s super tight I think.

10% either way is fine generally

someone needs a little anger management ^

*** jacob?? then why do they have word limit?

**** jacob?? then why do they have word limit? *

So, applicants don’t feel like they are expected to write 3,000 words and admissions committee members won’t have to read essays that long.

oooo i didn’t know they would block that…
my bad, but no name calling is needed

Anyone who reads essays for a living has a solid sense of how many words there are!! A few won’t matter, but either way is not so good.
