<p>Hopkins is good in many areas. Unfortunately, the bulk of the resources is thrown at the medical school and hospital because that is what gets Hopkins in the news. I doubt the administration (especially the president who is an MD) would ever be willing to risk letting Hopkins fall a few notches (let's say from top 3 to top 10)</p>
<p>From my recollection of the 80's, a similar situation was evolving at Duke when the medical school and hospital were the shining stars. However, it has become a very well rounded university likely from more equal distribution of funds and recruiting for all areas of the university.</p>
