I'm going to be staying at the Lakeside dorms, and I was wondering what their rules on overnight guests are. I plan to have my girlfriend visit the campus occasionally (once a month maybe), and would like for her to be able to stay with me for a day or two. If the roommates are OK with it, is there any problem in that? If it is against the rules, is it really enforced? We are very mellow people, so it's not like we would be bothering anyone.

no one from the opposite sex is allowed to spend the night. however, what the RA doesn't know, won't hurt you. lol.

over the summer our RA told us (after we voted for unlimited visitation) that we were allowed to have visitors at all hours but that they couldn't spend the night. It was pretty hard to differentiate between who was spending the night and who was visiting...so basically it wasn't enforced at all. Some RAs are stricter than others, but it probably won't be a problem...especially if your RA doesn't know and it's ok with your roomate.

Here are the rules. Simply co-habitation is against the rules but you wont be documented unless the RA finds out. Failure to report by the RA can be a job decision for him/her.

A. Residents and their guests are required to conform to the visitation hours established on the floor, section, house or area in which they live in or are visiting.

B. Residents are responsible for and can be held accountable for the behavior of their guests. Residents must inform their guests of Housing and Residence Education and University policies. Residents must escort their guest(s) at all times. Residents of a room may be held responsible for the behavior that takes place inside the room whether or not the residents are present.

C. Only guests of the same gender are permitted to sleep in the residence hall rooms. Co-habitation is prohibited; only the residents assigned to a room may live there. Roommate approval is required for any guest. Appropriate hall staff approval is required for guests of the same gender planning to stay longer than three days; guests of the same gender may be approved to stay up to seven consecutive days.

D. Each assigned resident is permitted to have no more than two guests visiting in their room or apartment at any one time.

E. Residents and/or guests may only use residence hall bathrooms designated for use by their respective gender.

Yeah basically if your floor votes to allow guys/girls on 24 hours they can technically stay for 24 hours if they dont have their eyes closed, is how our RA explained it to us.

It depends on how your roommate and your RA is really cause they would be the only ones that would report you really.
