Overturning Rejections

I've just been rejected from my absolute dream school for the second year in a row. I've also heard stories of students overturning rejections

Does anyone have experience in this?
Websites, helpful info, anecdotes, etc.?

How could I do this?

Yes I feel THAT strongly about this

Most schools, especially selective schools, have policies of refusing to reconsider rejected applicants. One big exception are the UCs. They have an appeals process. Check with your college in question to see if they allow appeals.

What school is it?

It sounds like its time to move on. After two years maybe it just wasn't meant to be.

^ I agree. It just wasn't meant to be. Move along. Be happy.

My interviewer told me, "I think at first they wil say no, but if you persist, you will get in."

They did say no, you did persist, and they still said no.

Are you a freshmen in college somewhere else, or have you taken this year off?

Have you been accepted anywhere else?

You should say what the school you're aiming for is, so that people can give you more informed advice.

I think they should replace that interviewer.

I've heard of someone on this forum who applied for Harvard 3 times before he got in.

Yeah, I'd move on to another college and get on with my life. Perhaps you could transfer there eventually?

Has anybody out there actually had or heard about a rejection being overturned. I've heard of it happening, but never of a specific case...

I have a friend who appealed his rejection from UCB and got in.

OK, it's been established that the UCs do it. Anywhere else?

University of michigan has an appeals process where many students overturn their decisions.

Sorry about the second rejection but it sounds like you have some kind of obsession with the school. You might be in love with the name or the prestige but you've never really been a student there so you might be disappointed.

I read your other threads and apparently you're happy at your present school. After 2 strikes I think it's healthier to let the other school go. Other than the UC's not many schools I know of will overturn a rejection. Why should they when they have all your information right there, what info is not in your application materials that could possibly overturn their decision and why isn't it in the application. Go through with some kind of appeal if you want but doesn't sound healthy to me. Good luck though.

Perhaps you could go there for grad school?

Someone in my grade overturned his UPenn rejection.

What are the qualifications of a student in order to be able to 'overturn'? A lot of students just might not have the stats.. so what really does a student have to have in order to appeal their rejection?
