Overwhelmed mother and daughter!

Point Loma 5 year pass rate is: 88.024%

That puts it in second place among CA schools listed here, but still notably behind Biola in terms of statistical significance. That being said, given Biola's notably higher ranking (in a whole separate class, literally) and similar religious views there's not a whole lot of reason to choose PLNU over BU.

Just my opinion.

Chico states party reputation is over-rated. Chico used to be the party haven but they have made a pretty significant crack down. That being said it is located in a charming college town. My niece was admitted into the nursing program there and admissions were quite competitive. (only 30 students got in) This is of course due to the lack of qualified teachers. She loves the program and the environment. Make sure to visit.

Be careful about the reporting of NCLEX pass rates. Some schools have stricter pass requirements for students on course work and then they do not qualify to sit for the NCLEX. This will raise their pass rate.
An additional good question to judge the quality of the education is to ask the completion rate of nursing majors.

Have your kids went out of state, if so how was the experience for them? I'm a newbie...can I ask that here or should I start a new thread? And please, keep the nursing schools/college info coming in...this is awesome!

Beautiful Point Loma vs. ugly LA??

As of a few years go Point Loma had a chapel requirement. Don't know if it still does.
My son was accepted to NAU last year and the price was quite reasonable for a Ca resident. He was awarded an OOS scholarship. They also participate in the Western Tuition Exchange. I don't know if the nursing major is eligible.
He decided to stay in Ca but we seriously considered NAU as an alternative to a Cal State.
I went to Sonoma State many years ago. The area is nice and close to San Francisco. They have a good size dorm population for a school it's size so I would think that the weekend population would be decent.
I also had friends at Chico and know several students there now. Some partiers some not. From what I remember 30 yrs ago it was a nice collegetown but a long drive from anything.
