I'm really particular about sharing certain stuff because I like to be really clean and organized, and I'm wondering if it would be weird if I brought my own refrigerator and microwave, separate from my roommate's'?

I don’t think it would be weird to have your own minifridge, so long as you (and your roommate) don’t mind the expense. Just tell him or her that you eat a lot of food. It’s not very environmentally friendly, but that’s another issue.

If your dorm floor will have a microwave, you probably don’t need one for your room. Custodial staff keeps the kitchens pretty clean, at least at my school, and it’s one less thing to take up space in your tiny dorm room.

some schools limit appliances because of power issues. i don’t really see why sharing a refrigerator is a problem. my suitemates all share refrigerators with their roommates and its not a big deal, but it may be different because we use them for small things like bottled drinks and occasional leftover takeout. cleanliness isnt really an issue in our case

To each its own, I don’t think it would be weird to share or not share. My sister shared her refrigerator ( which she is offerring to me for college) with her roommate.

At my school you aren’t allowed to have more than one fridge, so check that. We did anyway for one semester, which we should have kept doing because the second semester I honestly pretty much filled it up. She had money to go out to eat all the time and I didn’t, and she was mean to me so I didn’t leave her very much room. I’m a bad person, what can I say.

I think bringing a separate microwave is a little over the top. There is no reason not to share that. You can always clean it even if it isn’t “yours.”

Thank you!

Also, check your housing policy regarding microwaves. At all three of the schools I’ve gone to, you are not allowed to have a microwave unless it is part of a Microfridge unit.
