I'm just about to finish up my application for the Oxford Advanced Studies Summer Program (which I shall now conveniently abbreviate to OASSP), and was wondering if anyone has attended it, knows someone who is attending it, or is going to attend it.

Is it worth it? Are the courses good? What's it like? I plan on taking the Monarchy & Revolution for my first course, and either International Relations, Europe of the Dictators, or Russian as my second one (and one of them will be my alternate). Has anyone taken any of these specific courses?

What are the language courses like? Are they just on the computer, tapes, or pretty independent (i.e., by yourself, out of a book)? Or, are they real classes? I'm hesitant to take Russian because they offer so many languages courses, and I'm worried they're not real classes.

well I just checked it out and it seems pretty interesting. DO they give scholarships? How are you going to pay for it if you get accepted? They are real classes it seems but I would not know, so dont take my word.

I don’t know if they give scholarships, but if you click on “enrol,” and go to the enrollment form, there’s a lot of information in the fine print. There might be information about financial aid or a scholarship there.

I actually live overseas, and my Dad’s employer is required to subsidize part of my education, since I can’t go to the public schools here (due to the language difference). Since my family decided a homeschooled/independent study plan would make more sense then having me ride a train to the next city to attend the American school there, the money goes towards my books and summer programs. As soon as I move back to the States, though, that all stops. So, next year, I won’t be doing anything quite so glamorous (unless, of course, they have a scholarship/financial aid).

I’m pretty sure they have financial aid, though. If you can’t find anything, you could email them, although you might not get a response. I’ve emailed them several times, and only got an answer back once.
