Oxford and Cambridge! PLEASE HELP

I am a white male from California. I am half British, my mom is full british and my dad is american. I wanted to know a few things. I am applying to some great business programs in the US right now and have contemplated trying for either oxford or cambridge (you can only apply to one or the other in the same year).
Stats:
3.4 unweighted GPA with a full IB/AP schedule
2090 SAT
2 years ASB Leadership(ASB Secretary Senior Year)
3 years basketball
Boys State Delegate 2008
FBLA Club- 4 years and attendee for conferences
lots of other things, not really important to this question.

Heres the issue: THE IB PROGRAM! I heard that you have to get 35 + points or so on your IB diploma to even be considered for admission. I really would love to go to either one because i have visited both and England many times and I love the environment. I am a full dilploma IB candidate, but I am probably only going to get to about 25 points or so. Am I really not eligible for Admission? Can the fact that my mom is a native help at all?

You might want to reconsider for grad school. Your GPA pretty much needs to be a 4.0 to get into Oxbridge.

Not in a million years. unless you have some strong reason for getting such poor grades (eg you've had a heart transplant in the last year or something, leading to missing lots of school). The problem is you wouldn't get to the interview stage with low grades on your application.

Not, you are thinking about this in an American way, but you want to apply to a UK school. There is no such thing as affirmative action or anything like that here(and if there were, you would be in the majority so it wouldn't help you). Actually that would be highly illegal in the UK. Admission is based on grades, personal statement and interview only. For some subjects you are also asked to send in a sample of your school work or sit an extra test.

Also, the application deadline for 2009 Oxbridge admission is on Wednesday. So if you want to apply anyway, you are going to have to be quick.

I don't think you have a great chance of getting in, at least for undergraduate. Oxford/Cambridge totally disregard ECs completely, which can hurt some people. The only thing that they really do look for is a strong GPA, SAT, and rank. Probably the essay and interview too, not as important as the grades thouhg. Even with a full AP/IB schuedule, I don't think your GPA/SATs are competitive enough right now.

Oxbridge is probably one of the most number-based schools i've ever seen. They care a lot less about ECs than colleges in America and they care more about grades and test scores. How about try looking at some American universities first?

Bothwings, I'm pretty sure Oxford/Cambridge don't even look at the ECs, proving how number based they are.

very low chances of getting in

Oxbridge is actually the ideal model for an institution of higher education. They solicit applicants that are both very intelligent (high GPA/SATs) and personable (emphasis on interview and personal statement). There are times I really wish I grew up in the UK despite the superior opportunities available in the United States...
