Hi CC community!

I'm an American student who goes to an IB school. I'm taking the full IB and am currently a senior. I have a 32 on my ACT as well as scores over 700 on 3 Subject Tests, which meets the US qualification for Oxford.

However, my predicted IB score is 36, which is really annoying. Oxford told me that I would have to list all of my qualifications (in this case, US and IB ones). Does anyone know whether or not my IB score will hurt me?

Thanks!

For most programs at Oxford, a 36 on the IB is simply not going to meet the requirements. They are much more numbers-based than selective American schools are. At a minimum you want to be in the high30s/low 40s and be able to nail the interview. Also worth noting is that your final exam grades will be expected to be within a point or two of your predicted grades – a friend of mine who was admitted last year says he was explicitly told that a 38 or lower (or a 6 or lower on certain classes) would have gotten his offer rescinded.

Thanks catis! That’s awful. I really hate the British system lol.
