Some PPE personal statements for you to peruse! (There are 3 more online, but they didn’t include the outcome)

Oh. Do you know if they interview in the states?

I was kind of thinking about LSE or Economics at Cambridge, but they each require 5 APs and I only have 4 1/2. (1- Euro, World, Calc 1/2- Micro, Macro, Stats). But PPE is a much better program for me (and I couldn’t apply to both PPE and Econ at Cambridge at the same time), regardless.

Ha, my guidance counselor is incompetent… That’s going to be fun.

Yeah, I think I’m going to go by to visit at the open house in September. It seems like a better way to choose than from online hearsay.

And yeah, I’ve seen the last few years of Norrington Scores. It seem right up my alley, to be honest – I’m super competitive.

And thanks for all those links! You’ve been the biggest help.

They do not interview in the US, but the Skype system is well-established and works well. The only- v v tiny- difference is that if you are there you might be called for extra interviews at another college.

Most of the US applicants that I know have had to hold their guidance/college counselors hand to get through the process. It’s good practice, though: the UK universities do not hold students hands the way that US unis do! The quid pro quo is that the students help each other out more, which you will see on the student room site.

In our house we had the choice of Oxford or LSE and went with Oxford, not least b/c of the collegiate system: LSE is a typical urban uni, so the student population is much more dispersed, and given that many of the students are locals to begin with, it is that bit more challenging for a new international student to knit in. And, LSE looked like a good bet for grad school.

Sorry, what I meant to ask was if oxbridgeapplications does interview prep in the states, not whether Oxford does.

And yeah, my parents are much more for Oxford than LSE, especially for undergraduate study.

Oxbridge apps doesn’t have a presence in the US (or didn’t last I checked)- they did the interview prep by phone. It was worth it.
