Pace University- Westchester Seidenberg School Of Computer Science and Information Systems

Hey guys,

I was recently accepted into the Pace- Westchester Campus Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems. I will be attending the special intrest tour on campus tomorrow, and I am really excited.

I am considering 2 other colleges I have been accepted to, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Le Moyne College. I am waiting for 3 more schools to get back to me as well, Binghamton, StonyBrook, and NYU.

Out of WPI, Le Moyne, and Pace, Pace has given me the best package in terms of money. However, WPI is considered competition to MIT, and Le Moyne has a partnership with Syracuse University where I get my bachleors degree in CS from Le Moyne, and with one extra year, I get a masters degree in CS from SU half priced.

Can I get some opinions on where I should focus on more as a prospective computer science major? I am trying to set up over night stays at all the schools for my upcoming mid-winter break. Thank you all in advanced, and I hope to get a response soon.

I am a graduate from CS before Seidenberg was created, in the 1970’s at that time I was in dual degree program, Accounting and Data Processing, I witnessed the birth of IBM micro computer in 1982, in our days, mainframe ruled the kingdom. I’d say Pace did give me an adequate education in CS and I have gained employment and have been working all my life with the tools they provided.

But I cannot stop thinking WPI probably is a good or even more prestigious school in CS than Pace, but I don’t know. You should stay over night and visit them all to make your own conclusion.

It might be a good idea to consider possible second, third and fourth choice majors as well as the range of CS applications that interest you before you make your selection.

Most CS programs have applications and crossovers in the management/business areas. Do you want to work with “big data” or robotics applications? Transferring is usually more difficult from both the admission and from the financial aid perspectives.
