It’s hard to say when the program is so new and they have changed rules since last year. You’d better contact somebody from this program with all these questions. They must have some kind of coordinator/ advisor.
This one, probably. http://www.utexas.edu/ugs/pace/contact
Of you might have another contact in your documents/ emails

does anybody know how many people on the waitlist actually get offered full admission??

UT is excellent at predicting their yield numbers and therefore they don’t use the wait list very much.

Apparently only about 90 kids were offered PACE! I was one of them as well and I know of a few others. It seems like its a great option if you want to go to UT and less money. Normally kids who go to UT take a few classes at ACC anyways because they are easier and ACC has better freshmen teachers for your core classes. As far as anyone knows, you go to UT. Also the ACC campus is just down the road so everything is very easy.

Are any of you who were offered pace considering rushing a sorority? Ive talked to a few people and they said it shouldnt be a problem but would like to know if anyone knows anything else about rushing a sorority form PACE.

This is a HUGE question right now. My daughter is on the executive board of her sorority and all I can tell you is Panhellenic is still deciding if PACE students qualify of membership. Because each house has its own by-laws, it could come down to a case-by-case basis.

I recently spoke with a member of Delta Gamma and Delta Delta Delta. For these two sororities, you can not rush if you are a part of PACE. One of the girls said that non-Panhellenic sororities aren’t as strict. However, college shopping may be right to say they are still deciding. Just some info I personally heard (not a rumor or he-said-she-said)

From the UT website:

Which is exactly what I was saying before, that individual sororities can have by-laws that could keep a PACE girl from being eligible for membership at specific houses

***edited to say, I have made some phone calls and every mom I spoke with said their daughter’s Panhellenic Sorority will not be accepting PACE students for recruitment. They will have to wait till Sophomore year. With that said, I did not talk to someone from EVERY house but everyone said the same thing, which is they don’t know of any house that will allow it.

Thank you so much! I’d definitley be interested in rushing Kappa, Theta, or Pi Phi. And i have heard from Kappa that it is okay to be in the PACE program.

@lilyb123, just be really careful about being “interested” in any specific house. That will ring failure faster than anything. That really surprises me about Kappa because the mom I spoke with has a daughter high up in Kappa leadership and she was firm that they were not allowing PACE students. Your best bet is to call the Office of Greek Life on Monday to see if they can shed some light or email the vp of recruitment at kappa membership@gmail.com before you get your hopes up. Are you a legacy to any of the houses?

@collegeshopping Ya my friend who is a kappa asked the rush chair. Just wondering, how do you know so much about the pace program.

what are the chances that you are able to get your desired major with PACE? for instance, i got pace but ideally my first choice would be mccombs. My plan was to possibly get into the BHP program after my freshman year. is that even a possiblity with Pace?

@lilyb123 It is not that I know so much about the PACE program, but I do know a great deal about UT Recruitment for reasons I will not make public. The PACE discussion with UT Panhellenic has been a main topic for a long time. FYI, the term “rush chair” is not used anymore and neither is “rush”. Where are you living next year?

@collegeshopping do you recommend accepting the pace program?

@lilyxlove it depends on whether u think u can get into better schools or what priority you have ut as. if its ur like #1 school than by all means go for it… if not i would wait and see abt your other schools and see if you get into them before you commit to pace…

it’s either PACE or A&M’s May’s Business School

@lilyxlove were u trying for McCombs at ut? If so I would 100% go for pace … It has a much better business program than a&m . The only reason in my opinion to choose a&m over ut is for like specific majors in engineering. Even then I would say ut is a better choice but that’s just me

are you accepting pace @mehh1234 or waiting for a better college?

I’m waiting for other colleges cuz I got quite a few …

Based on your two choice, I would do PACE. But you also have take into consideration what you like as far as living environment. City vs Country.

@collegeshopping i am living in hardin house. FYI I know alot about texas “recuritment” just wondering about pace specifically
