<p>Is the optional (mandatory) essay supposed to be about your life up to present? I see that others are writing about their experiences as senior citizens and am somewhat confused.</p>

<p>I had that dilemma, too, but I decided to write about my life up to now. I think it proves to be more efficacious than a fictional story type essay, but that’s just my take. I have lots of friends who are taking different approaches, so I really don’t think it matters as long as you turn in a creative, polished, and insightful essay. :)</p>
