<p>Last year, a sorority woman on here answered all of my questions about rush and Greek life. Now, as a member of the Panhellenic community at the University of Florida, I'd like to return the favor to any of you ladies who are considering rush. So if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!</p>
<p>Hi, I have already registered. I have 3 rec letters for different sororities. Should I try to get more? How important are they? do they give you any edge?</p>
<p>It says if you wear heels to bring flats to walk between parties. Do people do that, and if so what do they do with their flats while they are in the party?</p>
<p>The dress code seems pretty casual the first few day…even shorts. Is that a good idea or would you recommend wearing at least a sundress? </p>

<p>Hey! Yay! I’m so excited for you! I had several letters however, unless they’re from women you personally know, I don’t think they really help. And I know SEVERAL girls who didn’t even know getting letters was a thing and they all ended up with bids. At other schools I think they’re more important than at UF.</p>
<p>You can leave any belongings that don’t fit into your purse under the tents they set up in front of each house. However, I HIGHLY recommend wearing flats for all of the rounds except Prefs. I saw very few girls wearing heels for other rounds.</p>
<p>For Round 1 they’re providing you with a tshirt. I know chapterwomen are wearing gator blue. I believe Pi Chi’s will be in orange and PNMs will all be in white. Last year Round 1 was only one day and I chose to wear a skirt. However, I was one of very few who did. Most girls wore shorts. Pi Chis will be in shorts and chapterwomen will be in whatever bottoms their specific chapter chose to pair with the blue shirts.</p>
<p>A good way to go about choosing outfits is to get slightly fancier each day. So, yes, shorts for round one. A sundress or skirt and top for round two. A nicer dress for round three that’s nicer than a casual sundress but not formal by any means (I can post pictures if you’d like). And then for Prefs, you’re going to want to wear a nice dress…think semiformal like something you wore to Homecoming in high school (but not as formal as prom!).</p>

<p>on thurs and fri I have an afternoon chem class and section that overlap with the beginning of recruitment.(like the first half hour) Will I have to miss my classes?</p>
<p>Where is HOME BASE? it says to meet at home base each day before the parties begin.</p>

<p>No problem! Again, I love talking about anything and everything sorority! haha</p>
<p>Missing classes is up to you. Once you get to that round, just talk to your Pi Chis and they’ll know exactly what to do. For each round, there’s more “parties” than the amount of houses you can go to, so you’ll have breaks. You may get lucky and have a break during the first party anyway. But again, that’s something you’ll have to discuss with your professors and Pi Chis.</p>
<p>You’ll find out which house is your home base at the orientation before round one. That night, you’ll meet your Pi Chis and the girls in your tent group. That’s when they’ll tell you which house is your home base each day!</p>
<p>You find out your schedule for each round when you get to home base.</p>
<p>On Bid Day, girls wear sundresses. All houses give you a bid day bag when you get there, which will generally have a tshirt along with other goodies. Some houses have you stay in your dresses and other houses will have you change into a tshirt they provide.</p>
<p>Oh, and in case that’s confusing…home base is the same each day, it won’t ever change!</p>

<p>Yes, you have the same schedule as everyone else in your tent group for both days of round 1.</p>
<p>Again, yes, you’ll have a different schedule than the other girls in your tent group after round 1. When you get to your home base your Pi Chis will hand out schedules for the day.</p>
<p>Last year, they had us go to an auditorium in Norman Hall (which is right across from sorority row) and hang out during breaks. I’m guessing they’ll do the same this year. If you had more than 2 break periods in a row, I believe you were allowed to leave, but you had to be back by a certain time to check in with a Pi Chi.</p>
<p>Fees vary from chapter to chapter. My chapter’s new member fees are actually about 2000 and 1000 of that is a meal plan. But again, that’s my chapter, and I can’t speak for the other fifteen.</p>
<p>Once again, haha I can only speak for my chapter. Mine includes breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday-Friday. I believe we are the only if not one of a few who provide breakfast. However, I could be wrong. <p>However, I know those times are slightly off for my chapter, so I’m guessing other chapters are wrong too. But it’ll give you a general idea. I know a lot of chapters do buffet style meals…so there’s a block of time where you can go to the house and get food.</p>
<p>Chapter is once a week on Mondays for every house. However, during your new member semester (until you’re initiated) you will have new member meetings on a different night.</p>
<p>I can’t really give you an average weekly time commitment because Greek life is definitely dependent on how much you put into it. Also, I don’t know if you consider meals and/or just hanging out with your sisters a commitment. Chapter meetings are a mandatory weekly time commitment, however, each chapter has varying lengths of chapter time. Also, every chapter has different monthly requirements, but again it varies. However, I can tell you that there are several Architecture majors in my chapter and that is a notoriously hard and time-consuming major, but they do it!</p>
<p>I know a lot of my answers are kind of vague. I’d be more comfortable going into greater detail in a private message, though, just because I’d rather stay somewhat anonymous on here.</p>

I have aquaintances in a couple of the sororities and one girl I know will be a Phi Chi. she messaged me and told me not to contact her until after recruitment.
