parent legacy letter

Anyone receive the parent legacy letter? My parents got one today.

So sorry, but what is a parent legacy letter? Neither of my parents is an alum, but I’m just curious to know, if you don’t mind explaining. Thanks!!!

It is a letter that we received from Stanford basically stating, thanks for applying, we know that your parents are alumni, we want to make sure that we invite other students into the Stanford family, etc. I am not sure if other universities send them out.

Most schools have some variation on this theme. Letter includes the following sentiments:

Thanks for your confidence in the school as demonstrated by having your offspring apply here.

Gazillion more applicants than spaces in class.

Promise to give serious consideration to application.

Legacy kids are x% of class.

Please don’t stop sending $ if offspring is rejected.

@cococo3 @gardenstategal Ooooh, thank you so much for the explanation! I learned something new

I think it has been automatic for years to all legacy appplicants. Read nothing into it on your chances for admissions.
