Parent of recruited athlete needs advice

OP checking in with a final update. DS submitted his application in late September, received his likely letter in late October, and received his acceptance at the end of March. In short, everything progressed exactly as the coach had promised.

Glad to hear that P of 2. Congrats!

Congratulations, thanks for the update!

OP – Thanks for the update, and congratulations.

Did your son ever decide on a “secondary” plan? If so…are you willing to share it with us?

^Yes. He relunctantly applied and was accepted to our state flagship, where his AP credits would have allowed him to enter as a junior.

Prior to his likely letter, he was totally straight with every coach that inquired, telling them exactly where he had applied, that he was hoping for a LL, and that he would reevaluate his options if the LL didn’t materialize. All of the other coaches were respectful and professional throughout the process. Once he received his LL he let the other coaches know, and they dropped off the radar.

Special thanks to those who sent supportive PMs through this process.

Go Tigers!
