I've been tossing around the idea of going back to school part time, maybe just one or two evening classes to finally finish up my degree.

I know that having more than one kid enrolled in college can make a difference in the finaid package he receives, but does it matter if it is a parent enrolled as opposed to a sibling?

Not for the kid, no. A parent can not be listed on the child’s FAFSA as one of the household in college.

However if you are in a degree seeking program you can file FAFSA for yourself and you can list the child as one of the household in college on your FAFSA.

SO on your FAFSA you could put 2 in college. On your child’s FAFSA you can only put 1.

Yep, it is a boon for your expenses but unfortunately won’t affect childs EFC.
