This is in the very early stages. Really just thinking about it right now. I have one son in college and another will be next year. I am thinking about going myself and wondering if

Would I be able to get stafford loans for myself?

How would my being in school effect my kids federal FA? My son has about $2500 in pell grant.

I am going back to school this fall. I have two kids in college, both receive Pell grants.

I actually already have a BA from a million years ago, so I don’t qualify for Pell, but I did get a subsidized Stafford loan.

As far as I can tell, my being in college doesn’t affect my kids’ FA at all, but the fact that they are in school lowers my own EFC. On your students’ FAFSA forms, they cannot count a parent as an additional family member in college (only siblings count), but on your FAFSA form you will count your kids as additional family members in college.

You can apply for FA. Your age does not make a difference to your eligibility for aid. If you do not already have a Bachelors degree then you are eligible for the Pell grant as well as loans. If you already have a are bachelors degree you are not eligible for the Pell.

It will not make any difference to your children’s EFC. As 'rentof2 said, you cannot be included as one in college on your children’s FAFSA. But they can be reported as in college on your FAFSA.
