My son is setting up his UK orientation and I’m wondering what parents fo during those 2 days. Are there events/meetings for parents too or just hanging out in Lexington?
I went with S to the 1st merit weekend orientation, which is the same as a normal orientation according to the information I saw. You will be kept busy except when your child is off taking his foreign language test. Some hints, get there early, the parking garage has you enter to the left of the island, if you child has an opportunity to get their ID do so, he will thank you after K week. The first day is long, wear comfortable clothing, the day was cold and rainy for us, one of the classrooms was really warm, you will be doing lots of walking… There are lots of parent specific meetings you will learn a lot of stuff!
@gerryfromNE thank you so much for the info. We couldn’t attend the merit weekends because of a theater commitment so we are headed there in early summer.
Same here. H went with D to Merit Weekend, last year. He said the parent info sessions were good. In the evening, they explored Lexington a bit, and went out to eat.
If you need to make a stop at the Apple Store, there is one in Fayette Mall, a short drive from campus.
