Parents forced me to lie on my FAFSA?!?!?

My parents forced me to lie and say they were never married when they are married in order to get more aid. I only put my mother’s info and i’m very scared that I will get in trouble. I just submitted it yesterday so I haven’t gotten a response back yet but I’m very nervous. What do I do?

If your parents are married, they appear as married and they will be investigated for fraud.
If they are living together but aren’t married or if they are separated not living together then the situation is different.

I would call immediately to the colleges you sent the FAFSA to and explain the situation. Perhaps you can pass it off as a typo?

It’s too risky I think, but agree with MUOS 1634, it all depends on your situation. And have you got the answer already?

Just curious as to how they file their taxes (i.e. single, married filing jointly or separately)? We had to go through a verification process to confirm the information that was on our taxes in comparison to the FASFA. It’s now weeks later. Wondering how you fared?
