Parents, I need you opinion and Advice...EARLY Decision Problem..thanks

I have finished my application completely in the majority aspects that is - essays, reccs, standardized scores, resume, EVERYTHING complete- 100%
Well, as the optional supplemental portion, I am planning on sending dance DVDS to my ED university (Duke) regarding my past dance performances. I have even expressed interest and e-mailed the dance director and talked about my goals at their university. She responded:

"Thank you for your interest in the Duke Dance Program. There is not
much left for me to say as you have investigated and summed up in your
email most of what you could be involved with at Duke in terms of dance
activities....I look forward to seeing your video/DVD. Good luck with your admission at Duke."

My problem:
Because the company I sent it to is compiling like about 6 performances on one DVD by taking different pieces from various 5 DVDs, it is taking some time to get this process done. With the deadline on November 1st, I am ready to submit everything but the dance dvds. Now I know that at this time, applications are piling in, well for Duke maybe only 2000 applications because its only ED. Though deadline for everything is November 1st, I wanted to ask for an extension to the dance teacher if I can submit those DVDs on November 10th. I guess especially after speaking with that dance teacher and expressing strong interest (I mentioned so many specific groups and organizations I would like to take part), is it ok if I send an e-mail to her asking for that extension. I definitely plan on submitting all the required stuff in by Nov 1st, but this is just an additional thing, which I believe will really help an experienced dancer such as myself get admission..

Thank you.

My advice is to submit the application on time and ask the dance teacher's patience for the DVD

Are you certain that all the supplemental materials also have a November 1 deadline? I do not know Duke's requirements. We had a similar worry about a theater tape that son wants to submit to the University of Chicago. When I called the school, they indicated there was flexibility about the supplemental material in terms of deadline. So you might want to check.

Otherwise, I personally see no harm in politely asking for an extension of time just for the DVD. The worst that they could tell you is "no". Everything else should go in on time.

Ok sure, I really appreciate your advice. Literally EVERYTHING is settled, but I am just having trouble in compiling this DVD and I really would like apoligize to the college.

The application will be sent on time. I guess I hope the dance teacher wouldn't mind. Do guys think that it may reflect anything about my "tardiness" or a negative quality like that to colleges?

Thanks once agian.

Certainly not - these admissions folks have had various things delayed in the past - its no reflection on you

Usually, it's just the "main" app that has to be in by the stated deadline. It's ok if a couple things follow later (a rec, a score, a DVD).

Really? We are in a big sweat trying to get the vocal CD done...studio only has certain times which the accompanist can't do, etc. The CD is available the day of the recording...but this might not be until Monday. Which means it might not get sent until Tues or Wednesday for an EA app due Tuesday. Is this a big problem?

Usually, as jmmom said, it is the main app that is due Nov. 1. For example, most colleges will accept the Nov. SAT scores that will not come until mid to late Nov. A note explaining that the supplemental material will be forthcoming as soon as the studio, dance teacher has completed his/her end of the process should do fine. But try not to leave it too late, otherwise the new materials won't make it into the file by the time adcoms are ready to read it.
