I’m reaching out hoping to connect with other parents of the kids accepted into Questbridge- while it seems like it can be a dream come true on so many levels (!), I’m having trouble connecting with a real person or people who have been through the experience. For instance, did anyone get the “free computer allowance” that was supposed to happen to one person in each state? I keep getting an automated answer when I query via their sites that says “that’s confidential” which seems odd to me- so it shakes my confidence in the program- anyone else have similar experience?
Hi - you may want to also check out a forum specifically on QuestBridge over in the Financial Aid & Scholarships area:

Nine years ago, my D applied through the QuestBridge program. She was not a finalist or matched, but if you are asking if it is a legitimate program, yes, it is.
My son was a CPS and was matched to Stanford class of 2021. So it’s VERY real to us
I’ve been following the threads at CC for a few years now, but never posted. I saw QBSingleMom’s post and just had to respond. Yes, QB is very real. My daughter was a QB Prep Scholar and QB Match to one of her top choices. She just completed her first year and is in Europe for the summer all thanks to QB. It quite literally has altered the trajectory of my Daughter’s life. As a Prep Scholar and Fein Fellow, she received essay review, SAT/ACT prep and funds to purchase a new computer which she is currently using at school. The QB staff are wonderful and work really hard. That being said, they are also very swamped and understaffed. It was always difficult to reach a live person in their offices. The QB site has gotten much better even since my daughter’s 2015 match, and they have great videos and tutorials on youtube. But be warned, this is a hugely competitive scholarship. The year my daughtered matched, there were over 12,000 appicants for 657 spots. At my daughter’s college, she was only one of twelve who matched. We never thought she would match. It felt like we had won the lottery. It’s a long and arduous process. The application itself was thirteen pages long and most schools still have their own supplimental essays. A few of the schools she ranked even required the Common App IN ADDITION TO QB’s app. A friend of my daughter’s, who was very well qulified, never completed her app. So if you go down this path, be prepared for a lot of work from both your child and yourself as well as your child’s teachers and GC. Your child can not do this alone. Would we go through all that pain and craziness again? ABSOLUTLEY! Good Luck!
Thank you! I can understand they are swamped- it would be a dream come true! Thanks also for the heads up on what we will face- we intend to go all the way.
