And a waste of 2 and a half years of my life
So sorry @downtoearth .
OH hugs.
He is just an idiot.
Iām sorry @downtoearth .Thatās just not right.
So very sorry to hear this, dte. I know it may not make you feel better, but IMO if thatās the way he operates, youāre better off not working there. (And I wouldnāt see him as a patient.)
DTE - hopefully this too will work out and you will find something even better!
TY. I am so old fashioned. I think you should hold to your word. I have done that even when not convenient for me. But I feel that the right thing will come up. Although I donāt know if I have the energy to pursue it right now. We have quite a few weekend trips planned so it will distract me.
I hope everyone has a wonderful new year.!
Wow, DTE. Not clear what kind of employer he would be. At one level, better to find out now rather than two months in. But, I wouldnāt despair.
Iāve helped ShawD with her job search. She didnāt do a very good job of applying to lots of jobs simultaneously (she also had only one day on which she could interview) so she didnāt see that many people. However, there always seem to be NP jobs in Boston in certain fields (pain management, psych, urology). The jobs, including primary care, also get more plentiful and less competitive (e.g., donāt require 3 years of experience) as you drive away from Boston. Whatās odd is that they donāt give you credit for your many years of experience ā you know how to deal with patients, listen, take histories, work with nurses, etc. But, if you donāt mind some of the open fields, I would think you could find something pretty quickly.
In ShawDās just-ending job, she had an assistant and a set of people to do specific tasks. To move closer to Boston, ShawD had to take a job where she will be doing many of the things for which she has had assistance. She will also have to do some very new things. It will be a much less comfortable environment. And, she will be paid quite a bit more. But, the first job was ideal (she knows it) and she couldnāt find one like that in Boston.
dteā¦you did not waste your time! Your persistence and determination are strengths of your personality. You will find the perfect position.
yes sorry I am really frustrated. Its really ridiculous to think you would not have to orient a new employee. But the doctor contacted me. Anyway, it is what it is.
That you NM. if you need any help with your MIL let me know.
You guys are awesome
Sending you all the luck on the job front, DTE.
Just caught up on the thread ā August -December is my crazy busy season and we ended up with more work than was really good. It took a lot of late nights and six/seven day workweeks, but weāre through it. Very profitable, but weāre going to be more selective on the client front going forward. Iām also thinking about a nice, warm vacation in February or March.
D made it home for a few days over Christmas and brought the photo-organizing mojo with her. She went through 2000+ photos from her childhood, decided on the keepers, annotated the backs, and sorted them by year. Iām taking them to our good camera store for scanning. Lots of my childhood photos were lost in a hurricane, and after various floods and fires in the news, I decided it was time to deal with it. Costco already converted a handful of VHS tapes. Slowly, slowing weāre moving to the digital image world. And geez, did we ever look young when D was a toddler.
Happy New Year to all.
Would love to hear if/how they scan front and back so the info stays with the picture!
They can, at double the charge. Iām already paying a bunch because I want the scanning and image correction done here rather than having the photos shipped to India, which is what I learned a number of other places do. I think Iām just going to hire a high school kid this summer to go through and add the annotations to the digital images, @CountingDown.
Hope we are all still here!!!
D is pg! Due in Sept.
Everyone is happy.
Okāsoāher MIL is super sensitive and all Hallmark cardishāI am NOT.
So D felt she could not tell me before they are going to see his parents this weekendā¦
I would have not thought or felt a thing if they told me that he is parents already knew. This just
seems cajoling. Annoying to me. My mother did this thing of competition. I never will or could.
So that is the gripe!
But all else is good.
My second D (i.e came to us as a teen friend of D) is 3 cc and we are waiting for Henry who will be
called āHankā.
Canāt wait till they are all 3 years old.
Oh and since I am bragging ā we received a handwritten thank you from our silent son for the
trip we took his little family on to San Diego the week before Christmas.
That card will go to my grave with me.
Hello everyoneā¦great newsāD is pregnant and expecting in Sept.
Our āadoptedā (friend from teen yrs) is going into labor.
And! Sāour very silent son- sent a handwritten thank you for the trip we took them on just before
Christmas. Evidently Gāson is still talking about Lego Land. That note will go to my grave with me :">
Great news Oregon.
On our front D and SIL close on their new house tomorrow. I expect once they sell their initial house (not on the market yet. They want to move out first.) and get settled that she too will start down the road of having kids.
S has 3. Oldest just turned 3. All good and S and DIL are great with them
Work is painful these days. They just expect more and more and well the stone is dry ā there is nothing left to giveā¦
Exciting news, oregon!
RM, your work sounds awful.
D moved into a studio apartment at the very end of December. She is enjoying having her own place, and itās in a really great location with a much shorter work commute (10-15 minutes). It also has a fabulous view.
She is fostering a cat. Sheās always loved dogs, but a cat was a better fit for her. It hid for the first three days, but has since become very cuddly and playful. Sheās thinking of adopting it.
S started the second semester of his second year of law school last week. Hard to believe heās half way through.
We are settling in to our new home. Most things are unpacked and put away; need to make a final push. Itās easy to get accustomed to boxes sitting around!
We got over a half foot of snow last week, but itās all melted now.
Hope everyone is doing well!
Congrats to you and yours oregon! How exciting! Loving our new granddaughter! Heading to the zoo today with her. Nice to walk the indoor ātropicsā trail when it is cold and we have a foot of snow! D1ās little boy will arrive in April. So very excited.
cqā¦love your campus photos! Sounds exciting.
RMā¦I feel so bad for you.
Very exciting news @oregon101 !
D and SIL will be leaving NYC in August. She will be starting a full time MBA program in the the twin cities and we are very excited. She was awarded a Fellowship for full tuition so no debt! SIL finishes his own MBA in May and will be looking for a job in the new location. Itās a big change for them. Weāll see where they land after she finishes, it will likely be where we end up retiring.
ShawD went to her first day of job orientation and absolutely hated it. I told her she should feel fine not taking the job. She decided to do the second day of orientation. But, her old employer would happily have her do 2 days a week (or more) and she can probably pick up a per diem job (NP at an urgent care place) while looking for a job. Iād prefer she do that, but it will be her choice.
