Parents of the HS Class of 2011 - Original

mosb - having to walk away from a full ride? Now I am really crying!!!

mosb - thanks for sharing; that is a true gift

I feel like we are all pacing around the same room. How long do you think before we hear anything? I’m as nervous for the parents!

What’s happening with MIT? We haven’t applied, but I staying up to see what happens!

MOSB - how wonderful of your parents! It will mean a lot to your D when she finds out.

I’m sure if all 18000 applicants are trying to log in at the same moment in time, they might have some server issues.

mosb: you do indeed have wonderful, thoughtful parents. i’m teary too.

rom: I just got back from picking up my S from an EC and i’m feeling as nervous as if my own kid was expecting news tonight.

looked at the MIT thread and indeed it looks like there are server problems. I am nervous for the kids I know who are waiting!

Sorry to start off the MIT reponses on a down note, but no go for Scoutson. Ouch, ouch, ouch. Time to pick him up and put him back on the swing. He’ll be fine…

Does it seem a little strange to you that there are server problems at MIT???

Makes me more sympathetic with our state flagship!

oh so sorry scoutsmom. I looked at the official mit thread and there are kids with amazing statistics and accomplishments being rejected!

Thanks for letting us know scoutsmom. Big {{hugs}} to scoutson.

I am trying to work out but making little progress due to checking in here for your MIT news. Can’t wait to hear about all the pi day kids. Best, best, best wishes to all!

I mostly lurk on this thread. Can’t keep up with the reading, much less the posting!

oregonianmom: my D is also into Willamette (EA) with their biggest merit scholarship (aside from the talent and service ones). She is leaning strongly toward attending, but still has five schools to hear from. I don’t know if she will feel differently once the actual acceptances and rejections (I assume there will be both!) are in hand.

I liked Willamette a lot myself.

Sorry it was a no for scoutson. Give that swing a big push for all of us here at CC.

Scoutsmom, I’m so sorry. That’s not what I wanted to hear for ANY of you MIT hopefuls. He’s going to land just fine at an excellent school. I’m sorry for the sting tonight.

Scoutmom: is it a double swing? Ask scout to move over, please. Rejection here for us as well. It hit us all harder than we thought.

Oh dear, scoutsmom & OWM. So sorry for your kids’ disappointments. :(

So sorry my friends.

Group hug. Sorry, OWM. :(
