That is so great @sseamom and @kandcsmom! Your DC deserves a round of applause.
@me29034 I also hope you and your DH find clarity in the employment options.

@Waiting2exhale it really is a sweet time with her almost always. Watching her get so excited over a dollar store tinsel wreath and a felt treeā¦we could afford more, but she wanted to buy these things herself and she immediately came home and hung everything up. Her joy for life is infectious and there is a certain change in the air when she is here.
āHer joy for life is infectious and there is a certain change in the air when she is here.ā
How wonderful is* that *? Thatās pretty neat, @sseamom.
Sounds like a great premise for an important toast (wedding, graduation, etc) to me @sseamom. Enjoy your time with her!
Yeah to your D on her final grade! @sseamom
Picking up my S this Friday after a successful semester. Heās happy with his grades (as are we ).
His intro MechE group project won the āPeopleās Choiceā award, so theyāll get to present the project in May. I think he was just as surprised to win as we were when he shared the news this past weekend.
Looking forward to having him homeā¦
Just have to get through one exam tomorrow and another Wednesday and then Iām home.
Good luck, @readingclaygirl!! You are awesome, and Iām confident youāll finish the semester strong!!
In a surprise move, DS took a girl from math to the formal! Did I know there was a formal? No. Did I know there was a girl in math? No. However this means he successfully had his suit tailored and cleaned, which was the assignment before my nieceās wedding next monthā¦
@fretfulmother, they all seem to find their way. I think the means we raised them right. We had a similar surprise at parentās weekend when our S ditched us for dinner the first night, and texted the following morning to let us know weād be meeting his girlfriendā¦
S has been mostly under the radar these past two weeks. Has four exams and a couple of papers due this week before he comes home on Saturday. He did surface yesterday to comment on my new car
@fretfulmother - isnāt that nice to see/hear? As much as I hate to say it, if they can indeed find their way without us reminding them, we did bring them up right
Yay @fretfulmother From my experience itās rare that parents actually find out about a relationship.
Well @readingclaygirl - I think we probably will find out if thereās something to find out. I remember telling my parents and I think weāre even closer to the kids than in my family of originā¦ But weāll see!
āHowever this means he successfully had his suit tailored and cleaned, which was the assignment before my nieceās wedding next monthā¦ā
An entire month early? He is waaay ahead of the curve, @fretfulmother. Guess he had the proper motivation.
Question: Are there really girls in math class? Why has my big guy not shared this with me?
@Waiting2exhale, of course there are girls in math class! My D is one of them, being a math major and all. However, being the nerdy, socially awkward girl she is, most guys probably wouldnāt notice her.
@readingclaygirl and @fretfulmother Iām sure it depends on the kid. My son could be planning a wedding and I donāt think Iād hear about it until the week before it took place. He keeps things REALLY close to the vest.
My middle one would only mention guys if things got serious, but I hear all about anyone in contention for possible boyfriend status from Sseakid. She has been Snap Chatting constantly with this one boy who is āNOT dating her!ā but who makes her giggle and who she is talking about all.the.time. She SWEARS she doesnāt LIKE him, like him, though. Lol.
@Waiting2exhale there are boys and girls both in math class, but D didnāt think any of the boys in that class were worth talking about except for the one who needed her help and he is NOT boyfriend material!
@sseamom @fretfulmother I know it depends on the kid. Your D sounds very similar to one of my friends
That was a joke, moms. @fretfulmother was one of those girls, so I think it funny that she said that.
@Mom2jl : Ditto your comment about your daughter on both counts. I canāt wait for some young man to appear at my door saying he is there to see my daughter. I will be using my x-ray vision to see what he is made of!
Yes on all counts and I did get the math joke.
Talk of the formals made me smile - we were just happy to see in a photo that our DS managed to dress properly for his āfriendāsā sorority formalā¦and wondering who helped him tie his tie, since he still had no clue how to do it when he left home in August
Todayās text from DS - he got up this morning to go to his 8 am final Econ examā¦and realized itās actually tomorrow at 8 am instead of this morning. Iām wondering if he realized the test was tomorrow before getting dressed, or after trudging across campus in 30 degree temps! He prefers to wake up around noon and didnāt have an exam until 7 pm tonight, so Iām guessing he was pretty grumpy after the rough start to the day.
His last exam is late tomorrow evening, so we are looking forward to having him get home either late tomorrow night or sometime on Thursday - yay!
