Actually DS16 is way more demonstrative. But yes, no one else leaves for at least 2 1/2 years @Waiting2exhale
I would starve if I depended on my first two kids (one boy, one girl) for sweet little nothings or cuddles, but both younger ones (girl, boy) can really turn it on.
The girl is a little salty now, senior year of HS and all, but my youngest? Tells me how much he appreciates my efforts at humor, at discussing geo-political borders (his thing) and just for listening to him. And he hugs me as he is walking past meâŠcould still eat him up.
@Waiting2exhale Your youngest is so sweet!
@psychmomma I hoping it wonât be too bad of a drive for you.
Has your S looked into an Amtrack ticket? Not expensive at all, and the ride from UIUC to Chicago is a little over 3 hours. Due to the weather conditions, we asked our D to hop on the train and weâll fetch her downtown.
Be safe!
DS is home from UF (though we live about 4 blocks away LOL). Phew it was a roller coaster of a semester but he survived and had what he termed âthe comeback of the yearâ in Calc 2 LOL. Nice to have him home officially.
To my great (and somewhat unpleasant) surprise it gets COLD in NW Florida!
In New England here. Typically donât wear a hat to walk around if it is a short distance. But they do use a hat if they are going to outside for an extended period of time. My D still is using a light jacket - not her winter jacket - with tonightâs cold weather, hopefully, that will change.
S has his last final tomorrow and then is expected home Saturday. Keeping my fingers crossed that weather wonât be an issue.
Iâm in NY and I always wear a hat when it gets cold-always have. But not many people at my college do.
We are in MA. S19 is still just wearing a sweatshirt to school. I told him he needed to wear his coat tomorrow. Lets see if he listens to me. Its supposed to be 3 degrees out tomorrow morning.
D should be done by now. Her last final was this morning. She is flying home on Saturday then on Sunday we are heading down to my sisterâs to go shopping for bridesmaidâs dresses. My niece is getting married next summer and D is in the wedding.
When I grew up my mom made me wear long underwear, hats. But it never got as cold as here in PA.
My D had an early morning final today. I told her to bundle up.
Itâs supposed to get really cold overnight again, hope my Sâs concert wonât be cancelled.
@me29034 Your S sounds like almost every boy I went to high school with. Some of them wore sweatshirts all winter long.
Praying that everyoneâs child gets home safely. Glad to see that you are responsible and wearing a hat @readingclaygirl!
@SouthFloridaMom9 Thank you!
All of her friends are *boys *. (Hey, @sseamom.)
@Waiting2exhale I find this whole boys as friends thing funny because Iâm at a womenâs college and so many of my classmates are so desperate for guy friends they downloaded dating apps.which by the way hasnât worked out.
Well if I hadnât has boys for friends @readingclaygirl , there wouldâve been no Carolinadad2boys. One of my best guy friends introduced us. So see, boys arenât always icky. They can be useful.
" ⊠my classmates are so desperate for guy friends they downloaded dating apps.which by the way hasnât worked out"
Well, @readingclaygirl, she may well yet have to download that app. Iâm sure her guy friends are going to stay in the friend column until she is found to be lessâŠintimidating.
Well beauty, brains and grace can be extremely intimidating @Waiting2exhale
@Waiting2exhale D has been described as intimidating more than once. The only boys whoâve ever stood a chance with her are those who can get past that.
@readingclaygirl donât knock online dating. Thatâs how I met my husband! And yes, @carolinamom2boys they can be very useful indeed!
Are most of the Class of 2016 home now? D got in a week ago and weâre looking forward to a whole weekend of family activities. Tonight is driving around to view Christmas lights and tomorrow weâre going to finally see âLovingâ. Two other attempts have failed, once due to Hâs work schedule, and once because D had a wig to complete for a friend (who loved it, by the way). Third timeâs the charm!
@carolinamom2boys : âWell beauty, brains and grace can be extremely intimidating @Waiting2exhaleâ
Well clearly I have (had) nothing to worry about.
(Do you mind if I piggyback off of you, @carolinamom2boys?)
