@sseamom: Your daughter is in the right place go exercise her talents and penchant for fashion and hair styling. Just a little more to the southeast and she would be in the hair styling capital of the South (as I can tell).
What a terrific, multi-talented young woman your daughter is.That school she is going to open is going to be fabulous.
My DD finished her last exam this afternoon and is driving home on Saturday. We hope the traffic will be better on Saturday then Friday afternoon. Official grades havenāt posted yet for all her classes but she thinks she managed all Aās
Finals at S16ās school are scheduled up to the evening of 12/22. Son is thankfully done on 12/20 evening, and weāll all be flying to FL to meet up with D09 for Christmas on 12/21. Iāve never heard of a semester going that late into December! Canāt wait!
Yep count me among the young women who have been called intimidating. @carolinamom2boys I know, the only person Iāve been friends with since kindergarten is a guy.
In the realm of very surprising news: one of DSās HS classmates got engaged this week. DS describes it as āinconceivableā. The young couple have been dating for most of HS and made it through the separation of first semester of college but are unwilling to continue as they are. Groom will be transferring closer to bride for 2nd semester. Not sure when the wedding will be. I keep thinking of all I learned about myself in my single but living on my own years and hope that they know themselves, and each other, well enough to make this all work.
Well it should be reassuring that DS views it as "inconceivable ". And being my pessimistic self, not every engagement ends in marriage. Maybe it will be a long engagement.
My S and I got home late yesterday. His last final was yesterday morning. Unfortunately, he doesnāt feel great about how it went. Fingers crossed for when he checks grades today and/or Monday.
After we got home he almost immediately showered, dressed and went to dinner with friends. My wife still hasnāt seen himā¦
@dbjs70 I completely empathize . DS16 was not feeling extremely confident after his exam. It all worked out in the end. Hoping those grades get posted soon .
S is at the airport right now. It was the only flight to Newark that was not canceled today. Iām still refreshing the United site compulsively just in case. He had his last final yesterday. Grades will be available on Tuesday.
It was a pain getting from DC to Philadelphia. I-95 was closed near the Baltimore Beltway, and that made a drive to Philly last as long or longer as a drive to NYC. The trip home was pretty uneventful, though. I think he may be asleep now; he conked out in the car between Baltimore and home.
Just got home from the airport with D. I also spent the whole day refreshing the airline site. Her flight wasnāt cancelled but was delayed two hours. She had lots of company waiting at the airport as all her friends were also dealing with delayed and cancelled flights. What a day. But she is now home and eating pie so all is well.
Glad to hear people are getting home ok! Weāre chilly here, but the weatherās ok.
@Cheeringsection my nephew got engaged at 19. He is in the service, she is in college and will lose her scholarship if she gets married, so they will wait. My sister is hoping that 3 years and lots of distance leads to a non-wedding. She is not fond of the girl. It was a real shock to everyone, because my nephew is very bright and practical and has plans to go all the way to a Ph.D. Doesnāt seem like an earlier marriage fits that plan.
