S is home safe and sound. The plane left early, but arrived late because there was another plane at the gate. He’s happy to give his brain a rest for the next 2 weeks.
I’m happy to have S home. He’s quiet so far. H is on the naughty list, having forgotten and scheduled several work obligations on the day the other 2 kids are coming home - both at far-flung locations, while I was supposed to be at work. Oh well, I’ll just take that day off work, too. Yay! Then I’m off until the new year. Lots of baking in my future today.
My grades are slowly coming in-so far so good! Just waiting on one more class.
@sseamom My DH and I got engaged in our sophomore year of college, married in between junior and senior year. He went straight on to get a PhD, I got my Masters, We are still married almost 3 decades later. Worked out great for us so it can be done. But, it isn’t the path I encourage my kids to take
S came home Saturday right after the storm. His original flight was delayed, but he was successful into talking the agent into putting him onto a different flight to another airport near us - that flight was originally scheduled to leave at 10.20, but did finally leave at 1.20 (which was his original flight time), We were busy shoveling (snow blower broke that morning!) and then drove to pick him up. Nice having him home - although I think he spends more time on his phone than with us
D is coming home in a couple of days. She’s one of those that has been described as intimidating and I believe that definitely has scared off many boys!
All my grades are in and I made Dean’s List!!
Congrats @readingclaygirl. So did DS16.
Congrats @readingclaygirl! What an accomplishment! First semester can be tough- there is so much new to adjust to. Good job!
@carolinamom2boys same - congrats to your son!!
Thanks @psychmomma . Formal announcements don’t come out for a month , but he meets all of the criteria.
Thank you both @psychmomma @carolinamom2boys and congrats to him @carolinamom2boys
Great job @readingclaygirl!
Congrats @readingclaygirl & @carolinamom2boys! DS also had a good first semester- most importantly he also felt he learned a lot.
Enoying our time together during this break- he was home for his 19th birthday- still don’t see how that is possible…
No complaints on S16’s first semester grades and GPA. Likely Dean’s List and no problem keeping his honor status.
Overall he’s happy with his results which is great excepting one class, but even that result was a good one. A big thumbs up to him all around
D also got her grades and did very well. She has a higher GPA in college than she ever had in high school. Her career goal at the moment is a top law school and she is on track so far.
DD arrived just after the midnight. It was fun to watch all those planes full of college students arriving one after another and trying to guess where the plane was from by college sweatshirts of the passengers. She said she plans to catch on sleep for the next 3 week and then she will have internship here for a month. She likes the weather here, but already complains on missing her friends.
Thank you to @livinginLA @bookmom7 Glad everyone’s kids have done well.
S’s grades were finally posted and he has made Dean’s List, too! I guess all those times I never heard from him he really was studying! Lol.
Congrats to your son @psychmomma
Just checking in-congrats to all of your Dean’s List kiddos! D finished with what would be an A-, but I’m not sure if they have Dean’s List there. She’s been working full time and though there have been some boring days, she’s also had some interesting times as well, and getting paid for it! We’re all about to leave for home and will go get the last of the groceries for Christmas Dinner. Tomorrow night I make traditional Polish and Italian dishes like my late mother did for Christmas Eve when I lived back east. Even though D16 never got to experience that, she decided a few years ago that we needed to resurrect the custom.
Last night she spent 4 hours Facetiming with a boy from school-it’s obvious that there’s some chemistry there. He’s a business major with his eye on going into stocks and bonds, and perhaps real estate-ambitious kid! He seems to be able to keep up with D and is not intimidated by her rather strong personality. His main flaw seems to be that he is not a Seahawks fan. We’ll see how this goes.
Hope everyone is having a nice time during the break, and hope you all have a nice holiday!
