My D got her license over Spring Break. I am so glad she can drive herself to and from school and her various activities. Her school is 45 minutes away so this is a huge relief for me. Her brother will start the same school next year and she’ll be able to drive him:-)

My son’s temps expired in March (they can get temps at 15 1/2 in OH) and hasn’t gotten it renewed yet. He doesn’t have much interest in driving until he “has a car”. I haven’t seen one materialize yet… He’s also supposed to have 50 hours of practice but he probably has about 9 (and that’s being generous!). I don’t get it. My daughter (20 next week) couldn’t wait to get her license

My twins are May 98 babies also. Neither have their permits yet-- one has friends with cars, and sees no real incentive; the other just isn’t mature enough to be handed a ton of machinery at this point (ADHHHHHHHD).

My D received her permit at 15. She will turn 16 in June and will get her licence.

Michigan here. D took drivers ed at 14 yrs 9 mos so she could do it in the summer. Too hard during school year and her year-round sport. She has an October birthday and is a terrible driver. She won’t be getting her license until we get through another winter. She has 12 hours in, needs 50 and segment 2 before she can take the road test for the license. I can usually make it 15-30 mins at a time. H refuses. She is certainly better than last summer, but it has been a long haul. I bought her some hours with an instructor to get more practice just to give me a break.

This is my 4th driver, so I’m not exactly a newbie at this. She really is that bad.

“S just got his permit a month or so ago, he didn’t really seem interested at 14. I have had him at a big cemetery to drive a couple of times, he had to get home work in and his geometry grade up before I would take him. I chose a cemetery because if he hit someone they were already dead anyway. (hee hee).”

THAT is brilliant! I am stealing your idea. When the time comes. Maybe when she’s a senior.

Apparently, kids no longer view cars as their “escape” from the house/adults. They can “see” their friends 24/7 via text and Instigram, etc. They get along better with their boomer parents than the boomers got along with theirs. This is the end of the Millennials, right? At least this is what I’ve read. My kid is not champing at the bit for wheels. She would like to ride public transit alone in her effort to see her BF.

S16 (forgive me) is a great driver. He drive me the full 3.5 hours (2.5 after dark ) on interstates and through construction to our college visit after a full day of school and a baseball game. H took him out Sunday afternoons for the last 6 months to practice. He has roughly 35 hours in at this point. He and H are very even tempered so they were great together. He is doing the “classroom” part on-line since 3 sports leaves no time for a group class. His 8 hours of in car had to be scheduled 6 weeks out so if will be mid-July minimum before he has the full license. So much for him helping to get his sister and her cello around this summer!

Dyiu, I’ve heard that theory elsewhere as well. My D plans to move to a large city so she never has to drive. More power to her if she can. I wouldn’t mind it myself-- but here’s me, in the Mom Van.

DS could get his permit this month as well…but, he says he’s not ready yet…maybe that’s okay…I hope to get him to do it in the summer…it will give him something to do! and the streets where we live are quieter in the summer. I never know where everyone goes…but…town is dead!

Mine is a May 98 too!

really interesting!

I would like to report that Godzilla movie dilemma has been solved. Saw it last night with H. Hopefully the time and effort placed into solving the above dilemma can be used to solve the geometry and chemistry dilemma.
Only time shall tell…and I’m not patient enough to watch the paint dry …

cheeringsection,

At the high school my kids attend, get a free period after the AP test.

thanks Hoosier… very helpful. anyone know about a school in the upper midwest…Whitman, I think it is called?

@drmom123 do you mean Whitman in Washington State? Take a look at The College of Wooster and Dennison…they may work for your '16

I will take a look. I am not sure what I meant…someone had mentioned that name to me…but didn’t know of it. I’ll look at those others!

Wittenberg is in the midwest…Springfield, Ohio. That’s the closest I can think of.

maybe that was it…I’ll look “around”…
Is there a Lawrenceville or something like that…a LAC with a conservatory? somwhere in the upper midwest too?
