Is anyone still waiting on Dec. 7th SAT scores?
Booked travel for a scholarship weekend at one of DD20âs top 2 schools. Really hoping this one goes well so that the school is clearly affordable. Not sure that the other one will be without loans ?. Good luck to all waiting for news!
We just booked for a scholarship weekend as well. Donât think sheâll get it but they guarantee at least $2k per year extra (she already got a great merit offer) and itâs a chance to see the school again while not conflicting with so many of her other admitted student days in April. So I think itâll either end up a top contender or completely off the list after the weekend .
@CUsucceed No, D got hers (multiple choice only) on 12/20. Maybe there was a delay due to the holidays, but you may want to check with CB because the website says that most scores would be available by 12/25.
PSA for anyone here with HS juniors who may happen to be reading here: Based on Dâs, and some of her friendsâ, experience over the last few days, I do NOT recommend applying to more than 15 schools. Trust me on this one! Last app submitted at 11:55pm last night!
@AlwaysLearn thank you for your reply. It is weird. None of the kids who took the SAT Dec. 7th have received their scores from our school. But, when I called college board they said âitâs normalâ but, I am anxious because of my sonâs ED2 app which will release decisions Feb 1st.
The volume of emails has finally tapered to just a handful a day now.
When do colleges typically send financial aid info? So far DS20 has been accepted to 4 out of 9 schools is is applying to. 2 gave merit $, but no mention of any other aid.
My D20 was sent one official aid letter of her five acceptances. She also has another school that requested a tax transcript that she will be contacting on Monday to be assured they have received it. The other three? Nothing yet.
Most of our schools are saying early February. I swear waiting for the aid is just as stressful as waiting on the acceptances. Everything is up in the air regarding the decision until that all shows up.
Some of S20âs schools didnât give the merit scholarship information because they were waiting for Fafsa. We are unlikely to get need based aid so I did the fafsa, but I wasnât in any hurry. Two schools (IU and OSU) both contacted S20 that his fafsa was missing the selective service and so they couldnât move forward.
It was strange because heâs not 18 so he couldnât sign up for selective service, so not sure what the hold up was. And now of course, who knows if there really will be a war! But thatâs another post. My point is just make sure the fafsa is in even if youâre not getting aid.
The selective service question confused me too as my son is also not 18 yet, but apparently you have to answer yes they did register or give permission for them to do it. They donât actually register them until they turn 18 when theyâd have to anyhow so I figured why not.
Does FAFSA actually register your son? I was confused by that; my kid just turned 18 after filing that form. Probably need to look into it.
You can register at age 17 years, 3 months.

^^ thanks for that link. Iâll have HIM do it today.
itâs a little sombering after my kids yesterday told me about the # ww3 memes that are going around.
My daughter just submitted her final app - 1 scholarship app to go, but she has some time for that one!
Iâve so enjoyed reading everyoneâs experiences - I agree that EA/ED seems to be particularly tough this year. The top students in her high schoolâs IB program had one acceptance (to JHU) and were shut out of the Ivies, Duke and Vandy, despite perfect GPAs and ACTs/SATs, highest rigor, solid to amazing ECs, etc. SighâŠIâve heard stories that our flagship has gotten very unpredictable so she applied to a second in-state school just in case.
And to the mom whose daughter is obsessed with Urban Outfitters and blush color schemes, our kiddos should be roommates. I receive a Christmas wish list full of dorm-related blush accessories for UO, with some hints of rose gold here and there. When I suggested she wait to ask her roommate, she said they could do what theyâd like, but she had her color scheme picked out. Sheâs a kind kid, truly, but she doesnât worry too much about what others think. Honestly, I would love to see her have a single room within a suite as she needs âaloneâ time more than anyone I know.
So far, one expected deferral (Yale) and two acceptances (App State and U of SC). She needs scholarship money to make either one feasible though. And (gulp) 16 more to go. She wanted to give it her best shot, and sheâs done everything she could. Now the waiting game begins.
One more app in, two more to go then done. And then the waiting begins. DS20 has heard from 4/10 (all acceptances so far, but all safeties too). I feel like I am on pins and needles until all of this is done. But I just keep breathing in and outâŠ2.5 months and we should have all the answers ???
I went to sign son up for Selective Service and he was already done, FASFA or some school did that becasue I know he didnât.
@TrendaLeigh App State is my sonâs number one right now, we only have NSCU to hear from, but my son loves App.
D20 decided to apply to 2 of the 3 schools she had originally said she would take off her list (one last burst of energy from her). So officially she has applied to 15 schools. Sheâs heard back from 5 (all acceptances) with 2 more decisions by the end of January. However, all her top choices are coming in March - so a lot of waiting to do. I have a feeling that March will be a lot more disappointing than December was in regard to the decisions.
@twokids2go - A suggestion for you and others who have multiple acceptances but are awaiting other acceptances: it is a good idea to eliminate some schools now, so you arenât left trying to make a choice in the much smaller window of late March - May 1st. While multiple acceptances are lovely, picking ONE school to attend can be anguishing for many. Moot point if you are still awaiting FA or merit announcements, but otherwise, pretend her current options are her choices and whittle down the list.
For those who are not filing FAFSA and are younger than 18, where do you do the Selective service thing? DS wonât tune 18 till he is in college.
