Same. Going hog wild on nice practical and pretty stuff. Anything that will make my D happy and excited to go to college. We are happy and excited to have her go to college
I really want to shop for dorm supplies! But Iām being practical and waiting until I find out dorm assignments. Plus, I like to shop in person and our stores arenāt open yet.
Thoughts on bringing a headboard to the dorm? Dās into that this week for some reasonā¦
@socaldad2002 It is super easy to make light weight ones that provide a comfy place to lean against and can be placed with command strips. I have made two for my daughter in the last 4 years for her HS dorm. Tons of tutorials on YouTube.
DD20 registered for classes. Right now 3 are in person or hybrid and 2 are fully virtual but small group. Her school did a great job of guiding her through that process from a distance. I am very happy thus far with their adaptation to a rough situation.
@socaldad2002 O. is looking at headboard pillows and big euro pillows (while her room has tall ceiling, not tall enough for the headboard size she is looking for while also lofting her bed).
Bought the laptop yesterdayā¦ she loves it and the price. Have bought sheets and towels and printer but everything else is on hold for now.
@SATXMom2 What laptop did you buy?
Costco has HP Envy 15.6" 1080P Touchscreen 2in1 with a HP Digital Pen w8G Ram and 512G SSDā¦ Normally $799 for $599. Campus Computer store has equivalent at $1499.
She loves it! Its a computer AND a tablet. (no need for a TV either)
Weāve been going back and forth between an HP and a Dell from Costco. Glad to get a review from another parent!
@beebee3 The digital pen allows them to take notes on the tablet. It has a fingerprint reader for safety and easy mic mute button and camera switch. Perfect for in dorm class attendance. LOL
I got one for my D on wayfair. $70 and really really nice.
D likes Apple products so we need to replace her old MacBook Air laptop.
@socaldad2002 Apple is currently offering free airpods, along with the education discount and 20% off Apple Care with purchases of MacBooks or iPads.
Great to know, thank you! Will let my D know this. She has been wanting her new MacBook for about 6 months. Maybe the timing with discounts will be in our favor?
@SATXmom2 thanks for the computer review! You are great advertisement and we are Costco members. My D21 who is planning to PSEO full time is wanting a new computer. Do you know how long the sale is on? She is wanting something for digital art and wants to ask professor what is recommended.
@1Lotus Thanksā¦ Glad to help. Costco is running some good deals right now. Look to run thru 7/26/2020 (or until supplies run out)
D20 also has an older Mac and loves itā¦ will keep it for her music. But for school, she wanted a touchscreen with a digital pen (donāt know what she did before - lol).
@1Lotus Not sure where sheās going, but D20ās school has a list of suggested laptops by major. Might try there too
@SATXMom2 Thank you! D was just accepted to PSEO at UMN ?. I tend to forget about Costco-so nice reminder.
Same here. D got a new 15" and loves it! She better for the price tagā¦we did get a good deal as we have a friend who is Apple Store manager and gave her one of her yearly discounts. She took care of her last one really wellā¦it lasted her 4 years of high school, this one will hopefully last her college and beyond.
