@amsunshine – Given the class is in her field and it’s a competitive field, I think it is appropriate to reach out to her colleges to correct the mistake. Keep the email short and straightforward and draw attention specifically to the mistake – through a bullet or bold or something. Then let them know you have provided backup, if needed, and attach the unofficial transcript.
Let me know the corrected transcript is on its way and, if you can, give an expected time range for its arrival.
Whole email should be 3 or 4 sentences and refer to the mistake in the GC’s office as diplomatically as you can – while at the same time making it clear was their mistake (or, that of the CC if that’s where the mistake happened).
That’s my two cents. Sorry you’re going through this! Frustrating to the Nth degree, I’m sure.
I sent my son’s ACT to the UCs he applied to individually because I read somewhere (probably on CC) that if you send your SAT to one UC, it goes to all, but that this wasn’t the case for the ACT. I didn’t confirm this with ACT, UC, or our GC, but just did to cover my bases.
@MommaLue
My son submitted his UC app last night. He received a confirming email that said that if you chose to self report SAT/ACT scores, you will need to submit official report when you receive an offer of admission.
As I said above, my son reported his scores for what it’s worth.
@MorseLewis Thank you! That’s saves $ then. I wonder then if they use your self-reported score to calculate top 9% in CA and then validate with official score once admitted
VT admissions is definitely a bit of a head-scratcher. It’s probably my S21’s 1st choice so it’s frustrating that they will be the last one he hears from. Going from our school’s Naviance it should be a safety (he’s applying to CMDA not Engineering) but they seem to be really unpredictable.
It is frustrating when the EA decisions don’t come before regular decision app dates. I think nearly all of S21’s say they’ll give decisions in January or February. UDel at least is rolling but it’s a bit stressful to have not heard from them yet. But, he got the honors college application in today. Hoping we’ll have that one acceptance in hand soon, would definitely bring down the stress level.
Question for anyone in California… my nephew is in CA and has his UC and Cal State apps done and is now looking for CA private schools (or open to neighboring states but doesn’t want to go too far) that might give decent merit aid. He’s interested in computer science but also going to law school (perhaps a future patent attorney). Any suggestions?
@MorseLewis Thank you so much for that info on sending official SAT scores once admitted. I was wondering the same thing too, whether to send the official one to one UC now or not. Thanks!
I don’t think the SAT/ACT score have anything to do with class %. At least at my son’s school, his counselor submits a school report and a report on him where his class percentile is listed.
@MorseLewis If you’re a CA student and are top 9%, you’re guaranteed admission to a UC. Now, which one is a toss up. They determine 9% based on gpa and ACT/SAT. This is different from your class rank at your school.
@AlwaysMoving there are articles out there with the recent court decision post the original ruling. In the UC app platform, they call out that UC is test blind. However, they still allow you to self-report the scores.
D21 got an interview invite to one of her lotto schools yesterday! She is excited. She knows not to get her hopes up too high, but she feels like at least she knows she is not an auto-reject there.
Dr Graves just posted the UGA EA data on the applicant pool - the admitted #s will obviously be higher.
Total Overall Early Action Applicant Data
EA Applications – 20,900 – This is a 27% increase over last year.
UGA GPA Average – 3.91 – This is calculated by UGA using only core classes, and not the GPA seen on the HS transcript.
ACT Average – 32 – This is based on the students who submitted ACT scores as a part of their file.
SAT Average – 1404 -This is based on the students who submitted SAT scores as a part of their file.
AP/IB/DE Courses – 8 – We determine academic rigor by reviewing the overall course selection in all core classes over 4 years, but this data helps with understanding the competitiveness. This is the total number of AP/IB/DE courses taken by our applicants over their 4 years in HS (so through senior year).
Yes, but that was last years accepted, the stats above are this years applied! Which, given generally only about half are accepted EA means that the accepted stats will be through the roof.
