@Momof3B Fingers crossed for TAMU! But for TTU take 380 to Jacksboro then 114 all the way. The Honors dorm is right next door to Rawls Business college. Both beautiful buildings, a nice setup for sure.
This might have something to do with it?
âUnder an initiative called The Rice Investment, US students seeking an undergraduate degree with family incomes under $130,000 will not pay tuition. Those with family incomes below $65,000 will also receive grant aid to cover school fees and room and board.â
free application from Alabama today. Guess it doesnât hurt to submit
Nephew was just admitted to Rowan, Penn State (Behrens) and Iowa State. All rolling or EA. Denied from Arizona State. So crazy that decisions are coming in already!
@homerdog ???
Hi, We were in that situation. Hopefully âsuspiciousâ is not the case. The testing facilities are supposed to be equipped with a certain number of accomodated seating and many were not. Also many families were not comfortable sending kids to be tested during Covid even if it was available. So my guess is colleges will try to take everything into consideration, especially those taking 4-5 APâs, community involvment, letters of rec, sports, work, counselor feedback etc:) We shall see.
UGA EA admitted student data: https://www.admissions.uga.edu/blog/2021-ea-decisions-and-data/
30% of admitted students did not submit test scores.
Got his first admit (Safety for him but still nice to have). University of Texas Austin Biology and Plan 2 honors. Relieved for him to have one!
UGA EA admitted student data: https://www.admissions.uga.edu/blog/2021-ea-decisions-and-data/
30% of admitted students did not submit test scores.
Interesting. We can compare admitted student data with last year, which I assume was not TO.
EA admitted 2025 ACT 32-34, SAT 1370-1500
EA admitted 2024 ACT 31-34, SAT 1360-1500
Fairly similar, with a higher 25th percentile under TO.
As with most colleges, the enrolled scores will end up being lower, in this case substantially:
enrolled 2023 ACT 27-32, SAT 1240-1400
I just had a thought: Wouldnât it be great if when your kid applied to colleges, you could pay a little extra for them to ship the decision overnight?
@momsquared33 Your son must have some awesome stats if UT Austin is a safety. Congratulations to him on his first acceptance. Always nice to the first one in hand.
Ok, so now I get to post the comparison for UGAâŠ
2020
Apps 16,511
Accepts 7,025
Accept rate 42.5%
UGA GPA 4.00-4.29
SAT 1360-1500
ACT 31-34
https://www.admissions.uga.edu/blog/uga-2020-ea-decisions-and-data/
2021
Apps 20,900
Accepts 8,086
Accept rate 38.7%
UGA GPA 4.00-4.33
SAT 1370-1500
ACT 32-34
I saw this at the bottom of the blog:
2020: The rough breakdown of decisions are as such: 7,025 admits, 6,800+ deferred, roughly 2,100 denied and slightly over 300 incomplete.
2021: The rough breakdown of decisions are as such: 8,066 admits, 10,000+ deferred, roughly 2,500 denied and slightly over 200 incomplete.
They accepted 1,000 more students. I wonder if they plan on growing the class, losing more to yield, or will take less in RD?
Itâs crazy how similar the stats are. The bottom of test scores is slightly up and the top of GPA is slightly down. Thatâs it? Canât be that easy! lol.
@AlwaysMoving if I recall correctly from reading the blog, it said that UGA is accepting more because the numbers from the EA applications combined with the number of applications they can see have been started for regular decision through the common app are suggesting to them that people are applying broadly and that they will have a lot of applications in both rounds and therefore expect lower yield.
Congratulations @momsquared33!
When did your Son submit his app? S21 still has major under review in his portal.
@Aguadecoco he hit send on 10/12. Best wishes!
@meddy -overnight decision I have thought that it would be nice if there were a site that a student could upload their info (stats/ec/interests/resume/interests essay) and colleges/universities could find them! In the merit search, it would be easier if we knew which universities valued what D has to offer. There are probably some great colleges/universities who would give her merit that arenât on our list because we donât know about them.
@burghdad thank you. I do think he has awesome stats but also we are in- state, from an urban public highschool ( although top 20% quite competitive) so safety as an auto admit because he is 5/411 in his class. Majors become quite competitive at that point so he is pleased with the Plan 2 admit. He is unlikely to accept however as he hopes to leave the state and is interested in smaller schools. If he were not admitted to others having the smaller community of Plan 2 at a fantastic university is great. It is an awesome place to be for those who want that size of a school for sure! He is grateful for the admit!
Another rolling admissions acceptance for my S â Colorado School of Mines w/ $14k merit! Hooray! Now heâs done hearing from anywhere until mid-December.
@momsquared33 He sounds like an awesome candidate. I hope he gets in to his school of choice.
I love Austin (other than the trafficâŠlolâŠ) and I am trying to convince my D18 to apply to UT Austin Law School.
@AlmostThere2018 congratulations!
Well last night we got a call for D21âs school that she has been in class with someone who is covid positive and can not go back to school until Dec.4thâŠugg.
So much for a just our family Thanksgiving. She is very much a rule follower and is stating in her room for the next two weeks.
We have been following UGAâs tweets, they have been kinda funny. Here is one we liked âI really think college admission offices should have a sponsorship deal w/ Tums, especially on decision release dates. âThis admission decision is brought to you by Tums, the preferred antacid of admissions officers and applicants worldwide.â Iâm always nervous on these days.â
Hopefully she will have an acceptance by the end of the day.
