What are parents feelings about High Point in N.C
Not a parent, but the general reputation in the area is that it’s a school for those who care more about the social life than the academics. It’s like a country club, both in their campus and student body. It’s a PWI that draws rich kids because of the dorms and campus perks.
They are also suspicious in their advertising. You can look through the HPU threads on CC and see where the official HPU account posts positive advertisements of the school. There’s also a thread (linked below) where it looks like some sketchy promotion is going on by (seemingly planted) posters.

^^^Also some honest reviews from students/parents there. Post #29 is pretty enlightening.
If your kid is not the academic type but won’t attend community college, and you’re pretty sure s/he’ll have a job thanks to you/other parent/grandparent/relative, it’s a great way to spend 4 years learning a little and having a lot of fun. It’s like a rich kid country club with classes.
According to Wikipedia:
“Since Dr. Nido R. Qubein became president of High Point University in 2005 the growth of the university has had significant impact on the city, region and the state of North Carolina. Qubein is the fourth highest paid college president, paid $2.9 million a year, in the United States.”
Someone is getting rich.
