( a special thanks to Tom Petty lol)
The suspense is making my D very cranky!!! She was recently denied from Penn State. SAT scores are not great 1040/1600 (1610/2400) but GPA 3.6. She also does not have a 3rd lab science. I think I may need to sedate her if she isn't accepted to JMU! This is her 1st choice school. SIGH.... this too shall pass, this too shall pass.
Anyone else wanting to duck and cover until mid January??

We're waiting here, too!!!

My dd has been homeschooled her entire life. She started taking classes at the local community college when she was 16 and has 30 college credits under her belt, with a 3.0 gpa. We're both hoping that will help to counter her low SAT score (1440 out of 2400). She volunteers in the community and is 3 months away from her Black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

We visited several colleges in the state and JMU is the only one she really loved, and it's the only school she has applied to. She's made many friends at the community college and said that she'd be happy to remain there if she doesn't get into JMU (she's only 12 classes away from her AA degree and, with a 3.0 gpa, she has guaranteed admission to JMU, once she graduates from the community college).

But she's crossing all of her fingers and all of her toes, hoping she's accepted at JMU!!! It's making ME nervous, too, because I know how much she wants to get in! We've visited the campus at least 4 or 5 times over the past 4 years!

Best of luck to your dd!!!!

^ you might as well tell her to finish up with her associates. Transferring in between is messy business. Alot of bs elective classes to take and whatnot. Atleast with an associates you are pretty much guaranteed to have general ed. waived.

Well, she's taken all of those classes as a high school student (she's 17 now), so JMU doesn't consider her a transfer student because she was still enrolled in "high school" when she took them (but they will enable her to skip many of the freshman year classes at JMU).

But she's definitely going to complete her AA degree if she isn't accepted at JMU.

One of my son's friends just learned the other day that EA at JMU is January. She thought it was like many schools, Dec. 15. So that was a bumper for her. She already has gained acceptance to George Mason University and its honors program. GMU and JMU are the only schools where she applied, but her stats are good -- 1220 on the CR and M (650 on the math) and a 4.0 weighted GPA. She is also in state.
