<p>When I saw the title of this thread, I knew immediately that it had to be UT. At UT the parking division is entirely self-funded through permits, parking fees, and especially fines. They don’t care who you are or why you’re there, if you don’t have the correct permit they’ll ticket you as quickly as they can (unless you’re Mack Brown, of course, and they miiiiiight give you a break if you’re God, but don’t count on it).</p>

<p>The take-home lesson is if you don’t have a permit, always park in a garage. Always.</p>

Well, think about what you would have donated to UT over the years and don’t donate $150 of that money. That’ll teach 'em…

I think this is the best suggestion. I don’t know if UT does this, but my son’s college sends letters soliciting donations from parents of current students. If you get such a letter, you might respond with a letter recounting this story.</p>
