<p>I am a junior in senior high school and I've always fascinated with photography, which is why I want to go Parsons because I heard that it was one of the top art school in the world.I am from indonesia though,so the system is very different. What I want to know is :</p>

<p>1.I haven't prepared anything for my portfolio and parson's challenge, what do you think I should do ?
2.What are transcripts ?
3.I want to know more about photography at parsons,so to anyone who got accepted, can I please contact you personally to ask more about the program ?
4.what kind of portfolio should I make for the photography admission ?
5.Can I edit my photo for the portfolio ?</p>

<p>oh,I haven't prepared my portfolio yet because I just got my DSLR last year......I know I don't stand a chance :( but any help would be very very appreciated, thank you !</p>

<p>anyone ? :(</p>

<p>I was accepted to Parsons for photography this year, but will not be attending due to its cost. (I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford it, but I applied anyway because they sent me a fee waiver).
My portfolio contained the following:
3 conceptual projects
1 traditional studio-type portrait
2 more creative portraits
2 photographs that I originally took for a local musician’s album artwork
2 photos of urban decay stuff
Parsons challenge: I forgot about this until the day before the application was due, so I just grabbed 3 photos with a common theme (i’m not going to say exactly what it was, but it was a type of object in the photos) and ■■■■■■■■■■■ some essays about them)
I have a feeling that Parsons isn’t actually as selective as they claim to be; I definitely don’t feel that my Parsons Challenge was worthy of being admitted.
The answers to your questions:

  1. Just pick your best photos, as well as any other artwork you are proud of in other media (Parsons doesn’t do direct entry anymore, so you don’t need a photo-only portfolio)
  2. A transcript is a document from your school that gets mailed to a college, telling them all of the classes you took and how you scored in those classes, plus any standardized test scores that you might have.
  3. I was accepted, but don’t plan on attending. However, there are several Parsons photo majors on Tumblr who you could ask questions to.
  4. Your portfolio can really have almost anything in it; some people choose to stick to a certain style, while others choose to have a diverse range of styles and media.
  5. You can do whatever you want to your photos in your portfolio; just make sure you state in the “Medium” field on Slideroom if you edited the photo significantly. All of my conceptual stuff in my portfolio had a ton of Photoshop compositing work.</p>

<p>If you want feedback on your portfolio from another student, feel free to PM me a link to a Flickr page or something similar.
Good Luck!</p>
