Hi everyone,
I'm a current high school junior looking at art and design programs for next summer. I'm particularly interested in RISD precollege and Parsons precollege in Paris. Parsons is especially appealing because I love French and speak it fairly well. I haven't had much experience taking art classes in high school due to scheduling issues, and I'm not very confident about my abilities, but I really hope to grow as an artist this summer. Some fields that I'm interested in are drawing, fashion (just design... I can't sew), and photography (either analog or digital; i've dabbled in both).

Can those who have attended these programs please share their experiences? Though I'm leaning towards Parsons because of its length, location, and the fact that it has a fashion design class that doesn't focus on garment construction, i have a few concerns. I've heard they don't supervise kids very well, and though I'm not a troublemaker I don't want to get into any dangerous situations. Also, I'm not sure if it's as rigorous as RISD, as students take only 1 class with no core curriculum.

RISD, on the other hand, is appealing because of its core classes and wider variety of majors, as well as its close location. However, it is a tad long for me because I usually get tons of summer work/want a few weeks to relax. Also, people don't really speak french in Rhode Island :P

Thanks for your time!
