Parsons vs. FIT vs. Instituto Marangoni

Hi...im currently taking business management in college and about to graduate next year but what I think I am really passionate about is in fashion. I first considered studying fashion design but i realized that im not as much of an artist so Im looking at the hybrid of fashion and business as to continue my studies. Some of the courses that im considering are fashion marketing, fashion merchandising management etc but have not decided yet on what school to apply at. Also, does anyone know when should i start submitting my application?

I'm not from the US(Asian), so if ever ill get accepted, ill be an international student,9how hard would it be???)

Parsons, as from what i've researched, is the most expensive while FIT is cheaper, and IM i have no idea yet.

I hope you could help me! thanks alot!!!

Did you post this on fashionista.com?

This sounds kind of familiar.

OMG!. you caught me!!!...haha.=) yeah...I'm so confused between these three schools and have no idea about them besides the comments that i have read...i hope someone can answer this!

courses like merchandising marketing etc honestly don't get you a job just b ecause you've taken them. a lot of getting work in the fashion industry is jumping in and applying to jobs and networking. if i were you, i'd personally start looking at getting experience with any fashion company. your business major and education qualify you for entry level positions with different companies. i'd advise you to look at some of the job requirements of jobs/careers you're interested in pursuing. Rarely will you find it a requirement to have a fashion merchandising/marketing major...its usually just a business major that they require.

however if you're looking for fashion design which deals with the complete opposite of what is marketing/merchandising(business side of fashion) then any of the three schools is fine. I'd personally choose Instituto Marangoni as its the cheapest in tuition for you. I think they have the same flat rate for international students as they do resident students. so its like less than 3k for your education, where parsons/fit will definitely hit the 20K+ for each year just to get classes and because you'd be an international.

hey i just wanna make sure,
FIT costs the same for OOS and int'l students right?

you can lok that up online at their website. not that hard to do.

Hi, I know you have probably already made a decision, but anyway I thought maybe I could help.
If you’re into the business side of fashion, I think it is better to consider studying in the US. I believe Instituto Marangoni has a higher level of recognition in the design fields, although I’m not completely sure about this. Anyway, from what I’ve been told, in Europe they don’t care that much about where you went to school and instead they care about your portfolio (design field).
definitely Europe and the US are completely different and as a fashion student you’ll always want to go to Europe, speaking from my own experience and from what I see. I have many friends that are applying to fashion schools for fashion marketing and merchandising in Spain.
So, I think I would lean towards Instituto Marangoni for a design field. Being a Parsons or FIT alumni opens many doors and you’ll have the opportunity to go to Europe in field trips.

I will tell you a little bit about me so you can see I’m not completely clueless about this :stuck_out_tongue: and I have actually made A LOT of research about this schools.
I was considering applying as a transfer to Parsons for Fashion Design, but as I am already enrolled in fashion school, I’ll be going first to Paris for a year and then transferring to FIT to get my BFA. And that’s it basically. Just be sure to make the right decision FOR YOU and go for it!

I was looking to apply at Marangoni recently and tuition is 20K+ for international students.
Can you please send me a link from where you might have gotten information about lesser tuition.

Thank You

hi I am a current student in Marangoni, I study Fashion Business, and I do not regret my choice ! I have talked with graduated students of Fashion Styling and fashion business on facebook and it has confirmed my choice.
i agree it is quite expensive, but the passion does not have price  the courses are really interesting, because the teachers are professionels from luxury and fashion, it is very great also because they have a very good placement services and we have a lot of internships, and also during the fashion week on backstages or showrooms. at the end you have a bachelor also from Manchester university, so my parents were reassured
for next year i have made a request to go to the campus marangoni of London, i am very excited!
does anyone is working now as a brand manager or chief of product? because i would like to know if you find it interesting? i was also interested in fashion buying, i had an interview last month for this summer with LVMH but i want to know if it is not too economics…to conclude i really like marangoni, even if it is expensive the school is high ranking in fashion , the only negative point is that the school is in trocadero, it is very nice but not very fun for stuent life !

hi
i am looking for a ma in luxury and brand management. i like marangoni as an option but am confused if the college is good for the course. apart from this out of the three campus which is better.
if you could suggest me a few other colleges with the similar course…
thanks

Hi! Did you take a tuition fee loan?
I just really would like to study in Marangoni and I don’t know how to manage to pay high tuition fee.

guys this thread is really old.
