Hi,
for applications like USC and Columbia, they require you to submit a part I application before you submit part II. what's the difference? i mean, the deadlines for part I are in october for USC, so I'm assuming it's not a big deal..the reason I ask is because I took the SAT in October (my most recent scores), but the first part of the app is due in 7 days...so does that mean I have to give them the scores I currently have? And HOW IMPORTANT is part I of the applications?

Part I is just your personal information so they can open up your file. Nothing else is needed except filling out that part of the application plus maybe an application fee.

so does it affec tyour admissions in any way?

it doesn't. it's just to open your file. i guess if you didn't turn in part 1 it could only hurt you...

okay thank you :)

don't worry, if you write in a bad SAT score from half a year ago or something, and you retook, they'll consider the newer one. like young_one said, it's just to open your file. plus it'll save you 5 bucks :)

HELP!!!

so do you have to pay for part 1 (70 bucks) BEFORE you can see rest of application or what?

For Columbia, you pay the application fee, which I believe was $75 when you complete Part I. After that, you just fill out Part II of the application and there's no more fees.

For USC, you fill out Part I and pay $15. You then fill out Part II and when you're done with that, you're done. If you fill out Part I, you only need to pay $40 to submit Part II (which is a $10 discount).

Both schools' Part I of their applications are so that they can create a file for you early on, if I recall reading their websites correctly.

so for columbia, is the part one just personal info? do u have to put SAT scores? and are the deadliens different for part one and two?

Columbia's Part I, if I recall correctly was just personal information. SAT Scores and other standardized test scores are in Part II.

To my knowledge, most schools also have a PDF version of their application, so if you look for that, you can probably see part 2.
