yes, exactly. and you can pretty much view everything that’s gonna be on part 2 by clicking on the ‘downloadable app’ pdf which there’s a link to on the admissions website.

extra note - part 1 does ask you some questions about your interests and stuff; this info will later be condensed into a little ‘summary sheet’ for your interviewer if you get an interview. so don’t just put random stuff. think it through.

I have another question about the app…it says that all scores from all standardized test dates are required to be sent in. Does that mean if you take a test more than once you must send in all scores? How can they tell?

It’s been a while since I’ve done this, but:

With the ACT you can choose which date you’re sending. They can’t tell if you’re not sending all dates. But unless one is just spectacularly bad, then you shouldn’t worry.

What they probably mean is with the SAT I think this year you can exclude certain subsections from being sent on some test dates. What they mean is that they want all scores from a whole test date and you can’t opt to omit any subsections.

As I understand Score Choice (the ability of the applicant to submit only one SAT score), each university or college can opt in or out. If Columbia has opted out (which, based on your post, I assume is the case), then you must submit ALL scores.

Right, but I took SAT IIs more than once. My first scores were a lot lower than my second ones, so I was hoping I could just send in my best. Do they want all scores from all test dates for SAT IIs as well? Yikes…
