I was looking at my predicted schedule I made for myself for the rest of my college career, and it seems like it would be near impossible to graduate Spring 2010 (I'm a Sophomore), meaning I would have to graduate a semester early since I have a lot of credits without even realizing it (which of course is a really good thing). However, on a social aspect, I really would like that extra semester to enjoy my last time in college before med school. I was thinking of maybe splitting up the, like, 17 credits I was going to take Fall of Senior year and being part-time that Spring, and then do something productive like working or continue the research I'm doing now. Even though this semester would hopefully be after getting accepted into a medical school, would this look bad?

Provided you're doing something productive with the extra time, it's fine.

Just keep in mind, if you're only a part time student, you might be ineligible under your parents' medical coverage. The switch to part time status may affect your car insurance rates as well as student loans. You may no longer be allowed to live on campus.

Yeah, was going to say the same thing as jerz

There are a lot of practical things that hinge on you being a full time student. If you really have extra time, throw in some fun classes. You can either sprinkle these in as you go on, or put them all at the end. I know many colleges have classes in wine tasting and scuba diving and ballroom dancing, so see what your college offers. My school had all those and also things like History of Jazz and History of Rock 'n Roll. I wish I had been able to take the wine tasting class, and I really enjoyed the History of Jazz class (though I wish I could have taken History of Rock - but I wasn't about to schedule an 8:30 class...)
