Party Scene @ CMC

I love literally every aspect of CMC other than the strong party culture. I don’t drink and I don’t really enjoy partying too much
Will I still be able to fit in at Claremont McKenna?

There is a substance-free dorm that is seven stories high, filled with people who don’t want to party. If you can’t fit in with that group, that is on you. Also I am sure there are many consortium-wide clubs and activities with like minded individuals.

I must disagree with the above. Plenty of people in that dorm (Stark) love to party. That said, plenty more people outside of that dorm do not party. Yes, there is a strong party culture here, but there is no problem at all for anyone who does not party to live and make friends here.

It’s better than it was in the past, but CMC’s social scene still revolves heavily around partying (much more so than the admissions office likes to admit). Sure, no one will ever force you to go to one, but when that’s what all your friends are doing, there’s a lot of pressure.

@WTF_CMC Not if you make a variety of friends. Some of my friends love to party, and I will join sometimes, but most Thursday and Saturday nights, I’m hanging out with friends who don’t like to party.

The social scene is consumed with partying. From a first hand experience, It is awkward for those who don’t like to engage in that sort of thing.

^^ Check out Stark hall on any Saturday night. From a first hand experience, it is NOT awkward for those who don’t like partying.
