Hi I'm considering taking a one credit class pass/fail, but I'm wondering how that would affect my gpa, if at all. I know it'd look like I'm taking more credits, which is good, right? So assuming I pass, how many points do I get towards my gpa? Like an A would be a 4.0, so what would a pass be, if anything? I didn't see this info on the website but maybe I overlooked it... Thanks to anyone who knows the answer/replies!

it counts for nothing other than a credit so it won’t count toward your GPA.

I just taught a pass fail short course last semester.
If you pass, you get 1 elective credit. Doesn’t affect your GPA.
If you fail, you don’t get 1 elective credit, and it still doesn’t affect your GPA.
It’s pretty sweet.

I have just a freak sort of question. If a person takes 12 credits with one of those being a one credit pass/fail course, if they fail and I understand correctly, an F doesn’t show up on the transcript, Right? What does it show?>>" No Credit"?? But if you don’t get credit then is that student somehow listed somewhere as a part time student for that semester since their credit load fell below 12? Though technically, they were taking 12 credits for that semester. Just curious.

It will show up as NC (no credit) or U (unsatisfactory) or something like that.
It would put you on academic probation because you passed less than 12 credits is my guess. Might mess up your financial aid. I would not try that. I don’t know how it affects dean’s list either.

“I would not try that”

Oh gosh no, I have never taken a class for credit only, so I don’t know how it works and was just curious.
I remember that 4th year student from last Spring, Jason?>>got taken up on Honor charges while taking a for-credit-only class. Still so sad.
Thanks for answering my question though.
