Are we allowed to pass/fail core classes like university writing, frontiers of science, art humanities? What about global core classes?

You’re not allowed to P/D/F Core classes (that includes Global Core). The only exception is P.E. You’re usually also not allowed to P/D/F classes for your major, unless it’s the first class that you take towards your eventual major (but you should check with individual departments).

i suppose one thing about P/D/F is that now that you are allowed to uncover your grades, it might be possible to P/D/F a global core class that you aren’t sure about, only to uncover your grade if you find out you did well.

but the main core classes you cannot p/d/f.

^Good point.

So, in short, hell no. And you are only allowed to PDF one course a semester (in addition to any PE).

Personal rant: the D part is absolutely stupid in my opinion. I was actually worried that I might land a D in that Calc II class (I barely did any HW). Luckily it all worked out all right.
