Passion in College Admissions!?

This site is filled with references to ‘passion’ about an activity or EC in your life. Not only have I seen this as the top reason for accepts/rejects at top schools, but it is also stated as the most important thing in your application and essay. Basically, if you’re not passionate about something, you probably will not get into an ivy or other difficult schools. My question is: what affect does passion actually have on college admissions? And what if you aren’t truly passionate about anything?

Passion is truly an overused term and concept.

I would prefer to see intellectual curiosity. When you consider your essay and supplement topics, think about how you can express your interest in life and how you dig deeper into what ever makes you pause and think.
