Passion Vs. Challenge

Hi,

I hope to go into business and computer science. My extracurriculars kind of show that. For this year (senior year), there are two courses I am deciding between.

  1. An easy business course. It (obviously) fits well into my business passion and also has a hint of technology built into it (this can be determined simply by the name of the course, even without going through the description of it). While I feel that this would highlight my passion, I'm not sure if it would look too good since it might seem like I'm slacking senior year by not taking rigorous/challenging courses.
  2. Another AP. My choices are AP Art History or AP Environmental Science, so I would likely go with AP Environmental Science. This would help with Science Olympiad while also showing that I challenge myself, even during senior year.

Both courses are interesting to me; my question is which would look better to colleges? The easy course that highlights my passion or difficult course that shows that I like to challenge myself and don’t slack?

Thanks,
Brian

I’d imagine that the AP class would show more rigor than an “easy business course” but what you take for one class out of your four year HS career is unlikely to get you into a college or keep you out of a college.

If you have other APs in your senior schedule, my advice is to choose the class you most want to take (provided that you have fulfilled the requirements of the schools you are looking at in terms of years of english/science/history/math/language)
