I am a rising senior interested in running XC and track at a few Patriot League schools. I have emailed coaches and filled out questionnaires, but have not received responses. My cousin actually swam at Holy Cross, so I should probably contact her about the process considering she graduated this spring. But should I expect a response soon? What are the rules for contacting me back? Also, should I call the coaches? I must say, my times would be very good at some of these schools so I’m not sure why I’m not receiving a response. Please don’t tell me to read the NCAA book or whatever, because I can’t find any specific info w/ Patriot League coaches. Please help if you have info.
How long ago did you email? For a lot of college track coaches, this is the short window after championships and before the 7/1 recruiting calls start that they are able to take a little time off.
Hello
you can call the coaches and they can talk to you if you initiate. They can call you starting July 1
From my kids experiences with the recruiting process it seems that the email response is a little cloudy
most coaches have responded multiple times others have sent replying that they were unable to answer until after July 1.
At this point you can expect to have email answers soon
Do not be nervous if you do not hear this week as the coaches will be going crazy with all the recruits.
Fill out recruit sheet for each school and re email all that you are interested in
no worries
Sorry
forgot to add, include in new emails a copy of test scores directly from testing site along with a copy of your final report card
just screen shot/save as and attach to email
good luck
domesticmustard – for what it is worth, my son was in discussions with several Patriot League coaches this past recruiting season (track) and it seemed like the timeline for those schools lagged behind other conferences. Requests for scores and transcripts, official visit invites, and OV dates from the Patriots he talked to seemed a bit later than the other schools (both DI and DIII) he targeted. Hopefully you hear soon and good luck.
Thank you to everyone for all the fast responses. So you’re saying they are not allowed to email me back until tomorrow?
I emailed Holy Cross yesterday (I’m not looking for a response already), and Colgate a few weeks back. I did get a generic email from Holy Cross when I filled out their questionnaire a few weeks back saying something about not being able to contact me yet, but I can’t find it.
They are allowed to e mail you now, and have been since I believe mid March. If your sport is a November signing sport, they can call you once a week beginning tomorrow. If your sport signs in February, they can start calling you once a week on September 1. Saying they are allowed to do so however is a different thing than saying this is the way they normally recruit. I have no specific information on how Patriot Track coaches recruit. I can say that my son was getting regular emails from Patriot schools in his sport (football) throughout his junior spring.
I get from your first post that you are not into looking up the NCAA rules, but ten minutes spent on the Internet finding the contact dates for this year in your sport will be time well spent.
