I wouldn’t know about the commuting thing since it really isn’t possible for me to commute every day. I also don’t know about the volunteering either, because that is not why I am going. Sorry I can’t help.

i read online that there are plenty of volunteer opportunities but i am not 100% sure because i havent been yet

Congrats for those of you who got accepted!~ How long did it take for them to make the admission decision? I just submitted mine and I’m kind of nervous now:P

Are any of you planning on commuting?

Does applying earlier help you in any way?

it took about three weeks to hear back from PAVE when i got accepted. and i would assume that the earlier you apply the more likely it is that you will be accepted because they are already accepting people so if you wait then there will be less spots open. and i will be staying in the dorms

And is there a deadline when you have to decide whether to attend or not?

Is it recommended that at least one recommendation is from a science teacher? My best recommendations would come from history teachers. I can get a recommendation from my AP Bio teacher, but I feel it would be subpar.

I don’t think it matters. One of mine was from an English teacher. Do the two that will give you the best recomendations

My recommendations were from my old Honors Biology teacher and my Anat & Phys teacher. I don’t really think it matters though, I’d choose an academic class though. & I don’t want to drive eight and half hours everyday so I can’t commute .-.
I found out after about a week of sending it in.

I just got accepted to PAVE, it didn’t take very long for me to hear back though

Congrats!~Does it require you to make decision right away? :)

Congrats!!! See you there!

I have until January 26 to reply with the paperwork

Good for you guys! Looking forward to seeing you at Vandy. My recommendations were from my Bio 2 and Chem 2 teachers

Hey guys!

I noticed there was some mention of starting a Facebook group and a PAVE alum mentioned the official group. I am another PAVE alum who has been asked to post the link to the group that will become the official group during the program (link here http://www.facebook.com/groups/424979797556671/). The group is open now and you are invited to join, but once everyone has been admitted to this summers program, it will be closed and PAVE will check each member to make sure that only admitted students are part of the FB group. We wouldnt want you spending time getting to know strangers! I hope that clears things up and you will join the group.

PAVE was one of the best summers of my life. You will learn a lot and have a blast!

Ok thank you.

Just checked out the maker of this group and it does not seem very legitimate, so beware everybody. Just a warning to you all.

Hi guys,

Sorry to glom on. I’m a pave alum and I loved it and I know I posted this on a separate thread but if you have any questions about the program feel free to ask… you guys are in for a HUGE treat :)

Hey RDRFan, I understand your apprehension since the group is empty as of this message, but the link was posted to get the ball rolling and I can assure you it’s legitimate. Feel free to call the PAVE office if you’re still uncertain. Thanks and I hope you have a great experience this summer!
