Paying deposit and changing mind

I put down my deposit for penn state university (Altoona campus) some time around February because housing is limited and I have not received any other college acceptances until recently. Turns out, I regret doing that. Due to financial issues that have come up, I’ll be attending a local college so I can save money. I emailed the admissions office a week ago telling them how I changed my mind and asked what the process is to withdraw my acceptance but they never emailed me back. Should I just accept the college offer from my local college right now or wait until Penn State emails me back? What happens if they never do anything about it? I don’t want to end up not going and I still have to pay tuition.

You won’t have to pay tuition, but you would likely lose your deposit.

Does this link help?

Did you try to call the admissions office? I believe calling and possibly following up with an email is better than email alone.

Call and get someone’s specific email to send your notice to. Keep a record! Print out your email and put it in your file.

Ok I’m glad I don’t have to. Losing the deposit isn’t really a big issue. Thanks!

Thanks for the link. Luckily I didn’t register for classes yet
